Sdamerikanische Suite - H. Geese

Rolf Granderath has put together a sequence of the most spirited tunes and stirring Latin American rhythms from Heinz Geese's popular children's musical "the boat trip to Rio" (ED 6585 / ED 6586) and arranged them for (youth) wind band. (Children's) voices may be added ad libitum.

Sdwind Overture - Ferrer Ferran

The idea for Sdwind Overture arose during dinner with the conductor Werner Buchmann and a few members of his band. Ferrer Ferran accepted the commission to write the work and asked Mr. Buchmann jokingly to sing him a motif offive notes that would serve as the leitmotif of the composition. Starting from these five notes (Ab, B, D#, E, F), the composer has created Sdwind Overture - the result is a fantastic musical achievement that shows a great senseof imagination. Dur: 7:00

Reiner Lghausen composed this march in the early Seventies and it has never before been published. He gave the work this title because he actually comes from the valley of the same name in Germany. The most important sources of inspiration were the typical American military marches, the undertones of which you will certainly recognise.

Symbol Of Honor - Ted Mesang

One of the classic quickstep marches of the 20th Century, Symbol of Honor dates from the 1930s. A rousing example of the march style, it features a memorably catchy second strain. All the elements of this great piece have been ably adapted to the needs of young ensembles in Quincy Hilliard's superb concert arrangement. Symfoni nr. 1 'Fatum' - Symphony No. 1 "Fate" - Johan Halvorsen

Johan August Halvorsen (1864-1935) was born in Drammen and played violin and several brass instruments. He played in both orchestra and wind bands and in 1881 he became a student at Brigademusikken in Oslo. After a brilliant violinist career he proved himself talented as a conductor and composer. From 1899 he became conductor and composer at the National Theatre, where he wrote many of his most famous works. It was in this period in 1924 he wrote Fatum. Fatum means destiny and like Beethoven he opens the symphony with a motif he uses in all four movements. This work shows that Halvorsen was a great composer and a traditionalist.
