It is written in a Spanish style reminiscent of some of the classic Spanish marches like Amparita Roco, but it is within the technical limitations of young bands. The Red Planet

The Red Planet is an original concert piece in 5/4 time for a band with at least one year's training. Joseph Compello's intriguing new work depicts the planet Mars in 5/4 time, giving the work an uneven, exciting feel. The opening section is bold and aggressive, and this piece explores a variety of moods throughout its duration. This, along with the lyrical pseudo sci-fi sound, will make The Red Planet a big hit with students. As a bonus, Compello included a fugato section to help introduce students to contrapuntal music.

The Red Sled - Fossa

We invite your band to experience the wistful wonder of a snow day sleigh ride with this delightful music. "The Red Sled" recounts the exhilaration of every child's first ride down a snowy hill, from the plodding climb up to the dashing and dangerous descent. Simple grace notes for the flutes, percussion features, and trombone glisses are just some of the unique features of this very accessible work that will assuredly be a winter favorite.

The Red Stone - Bert Appermont

This composition was commissioned by the Musique Municipale d'Ingwiller, for the occasion of their 150th anniversary. The source of inspiration for this work was the municipality of Ingwiller in the French region, Alsace. The title of the work refers to the many buildings there that are made of red sandstone, and to the 'Schlembe', a train connecting Ingwiller with Bouxwiller for sixty years. It consists of 4 movements, all related to the city of Ingwiller and its history. This bright and positive work offers beautiful melodic themes, slow passages perfect for working on intonation and phrasing, as well as pleasant parts for Percussion.
