Legend of BAFE is a dramatic work by John Fannin. It's driven by the musical letters that spell BAFE - B-flat, A, F, and E. Even a casual listening will reveal many of the ways the composer utilizes this four-note motif. All that aside, this is an enormously exciting piece.

Legend Of El Muerto - Roland Barrett

Based on a mid-1800s folk tale from "No Man's Land" in Texas, this engaging original composition captures the imagination, depicting sinister livestock rustling and even a little horse thievery. This compelling work uses shifting dynamics, an introduction to aleatoric notation to build the musical intensity, and a chance for one trumpet to depict the stolen horse's whinny. Legend Of Old Abe - James Curnow

Named after President Lincoln, Old Abe was a famous bald eagle who served as mascot for the 8th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. Legend of Old Abe is a marvelously descriptive work for young bands thattakes the listener on a journey of Old Abe's exploits. From a peaceful and serene opening the work progresses through the sounds of conflict and battle. The mood turns reflective and then triumphant as the music celebrates thisamazing true story. Legend of the Bell - Bert Appermont

This work was inspired by the legend of the Klokkeven, in which a church bell plays the leading part. It forms a connecting thread throughout the composition. The work consists of three continuous movements, each with its own atmosphere and character. In The Black Robber, we hear dark sounds in the brass and fast chromatic motifs. The Swamp contains mysterious low parallel fifths, imploring solos and chafing dissonant harmonies. Finally, in The Bell sweetly musing solos are hopefully accompanied by the church bell ringing from a distance. After a number of changes in tempo, the music ends in a grand tutti.
