This swinging composition from the popular composer Dean Jones is a tribute to the much loved 'Light Walk' from Barry Gott. This is a delightful interlude during a heavy concert, and perfect for a summer evening's performance.

Hangin' Ten - Roger Cichy

Hangin' Ten is one of two movements of a composition called "Barefeet." The works may be played separately or together in a concert. This movement opens with sounds that are a bit mystical, then moving to a Latin jazz/rock style. It is quite syncopated and a fun song for your audience. The ranges are mostly within a Grade 4, though the last note of the Trumpet is C. Rhythmically it is challenging and a bit reminiscent of "West Side Story."

Hannibal in the Alps - Joseph Compello

This strong and ponderous piece is a musical depiction of Hannibal's epic journey through the Alps with his army of war elephants. As such, the piece serves as a great vehicle to inspire the imaginations of the very youngest of band musicians and helps them play with a maturity beyond their years. Students will enjoy bringing this elephantine cast of characters alive through their instruments.

Hanover Festival - Philip Sparke

The Hanover Wind Symphony, New Jersey, USA was founded in 1984 by its conductor Peter Boor. He commissioned HANOVER FESTIVAL to celebrate the band's 15th Birthday and the first performance took place on October 27th 1999. The piece starts with a solemn brass fanfare. Woodwinds join in and the music subsides into an expressive chorale. A climax is reached and the fanfare returns. Trumpets introduce an explosive vivo section, characterised by an energetic theme from the horns and low clarinets. A bridge passage with strong brass chords leads to a playful section that introduces a legato central theme under woodwind figures. This is taken up by the full band, the playfulmusic returns and the original horn tune is reintroduced. Finally the opening fanfare returns, this time accompanied by music from the vivo section, until a fast and furious coda closes the work.

Hans Christian Andersen Suite - Søren Hyldgaard

This composition by the Danish composer Sren Hyldgaard is a tribute to his fellow-countryman Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875). In this musical epic in addition to various fairytale figures present (like the little match-girl) Hyldgaard has also tried to represent the spiritual father of fairy tales in music. A delight to the ear!
