This three-movement work is a tribute to French sculptor Frdric Auguste Bartholdi. The first movement depicts what is without a doubt Bartholdi's most famous sculpture, the Statue of Liberty in New York, which also gives this piece its name. Next listeners get to experience the trumpeting angels, which can be seen atop the First Baptist Church in Boston. The final movement takes listeners to France to view the Lion of Belfort in France.

John Blanken composed his traditional style concert march Liberty was composed in 2004. The first performance took place during a concert in which the theme was the struggle for independence and during the concert the audience sang the song of independence from large banners situated on both sides of the both. This grandiose yet lyrical march will open your concert in a truly liberating manner.

Liberty - Rossano Galante

Comprised of two main themes, Liberty strives to capture the essence of Americana. The first of the two themes is stated by a trumpet duet, then later the full ensemble. The second theme is robust and emotionally dynamic and accompanied by a driving, rhythmic pulse. The arc of the piece returns to the first theme, this time more transparent, and ending on a gentle, quiet note. A rewarding work for winds with plenty of variety and depth.
