£42.50Encore! - Goto Yo
Encore! was commissioned by Ishikawa Prefecture Band Association to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2010. The commissioning request was that the piece be fun and appropriate as an encore. I made it simple and enjoyable for everyone.The only thing I added was an appealing introduction so each entering section might feel the importance of their instrument. That's why there is a specified appearance order involving standing. It goes from 1) clarinets, 2) piccolo, flute, horn, oboe and bassoon, 3) percussion, 4) euphonium, tuba and double bass, 5) trombone, 6) saxophone to 7) trumpet. Lastly, all sections stand up together and greet the audience. Technically, it's a medium grade level. There are substitutions for bands lacking oboe, bassoon or double bass.The title was selecting hoping for a fun, grand finale. It also means "more" and "again." My hope is for performers and audience to enjoy music, and for Ishikawa Prefecture Band Association to nourish its band movements and activities. I could not ask for more if people come to love music even more by experiencing this work.(Yo Goto)

However, I was simply moved by this film's portrait of family love, respect for the environment, exciting adventure of childhood, and people's loving kindness. It touched my heart with its abundant colorful images.To reflect its simplicity and unsophisticated character, this version is by no means an "elaborate" arrangement. Howl's Moving Castle - Joe Hisaishi
Based on Hayao Miyazaki's animation "Howl's Moving Castle" (2004), this Symphonic Fantasy for Band was arranged for Neagari Jr. High School Band (Kazuhiro Tanaka- director) in Nomi, Ishikawa, Japan as concert contest non-test repertoire.This work consists of 5 scenes which are freely adapted from Image Symphonic Suite (music released before the film's premier) and The Soundtrack:1. The Allure of Dawn (Image Symphonic Suite)2. Wandering Sophie (Soundtrack)3. The Courageous Cavalry (Soundtrack)4. The Boy Who Swallowed the Star (Soundtrack)5. The Merry-go-round of Life (Soundtrack)To maximize the wind band's unique sound and function, I have taken some liberty in spreading active roles throughout the ensemble. Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea - Joe Hisaishi
The sound track ofPonyo on a Cliff by the Seaincludes a number of famous and familiar melodies as parody. I arranged it to exaggerate the fun-ness. "Deep Sea Ranch" from the film's beginning is reminiscent of Ravel's Lever du jour (Daphnis et Chlo); "Flight of Ponyo" with Wagner'sRide of the Valkyries, and "Mother of the Sea" with Jean Paul Martini'sPlaisir d'amour. The arrangement is enjoyable for movie fans as well as classic music fans. The main themePonyo on the Cliff by the Seaconcludes in lively march style. £199.99Le Carnaval des Animaux - Camille Saint-Saëns
Camille Saint-Saens "grande fantasie zoologique" is a collection of 14 short movements, each with a specific animal subject. Performed now by the symphony, this suite was originally scored for two pianos and chamber orchestra. Yo Goto consulted Saint-Saens' score to set these nine movements for concert band. For humor, color and clarity he added piano and various percussion. Also, phrases were added for continuity and impact, particularly in the "Final".
