'Ouverture 2000' was written to commemorate this occasion and it is dedicated to the Molenaar family. The music displays a pithy, festive and dynamic character. The opening fanfare is succeeded by a fast and virtuoso movement in which a 'pull-out of all stops' of the various windband registers can be heard.

£94.99Gaudete!
'Gaudete' comes from the Finnish/Swedish 'Piae Cantiones', a collection of religious music from the 16th century. The English folk group 'Steeleye Span' featuring female lead singer Maddy Prior had a hit with this song in the seventies. Peter Martin made a scintillating arrangement for wind-band. By the use of fourths and thirds in the melody the composer harks back to the period from which the song originated (The Middle Ages)

Southdown - Score and Parts - Ray Steadman-Allen

He himself became an officer in 1950 and subsequently held many positions within the SA culminating in 1967 when he was appointed as the Head of Music Editorial where he was responsible for selecting and editing all music to be published by the SA. His versatility means he can compose music for all occasions and for all instrumental combinations; from Championship section test pieces to a straight forward setting of a children's song. The march Southdown represents music of a simpler nature from this great composer and was composed originally for a music school in Bolney Court. £12.95Symphonic Rhapsody for Euphonium and Band (Concert Band - Score only) - Gregson, Edward - Farr, Ray
This work, transcribed for Wind-band by Ray Farr, maintains a strongly lyrical style, and whilst the variation element is a fundamental feature, the close adherence to thematic material and recapitulative 'echoes' create a cohesive whole, making the conception satisfyingly unified. The theme is that of an old song: So we'll roll the old chariot along, And we won't drag on behind.

£89.99Air Wind Band Set (Score & Parts)
One of the best-known and most popular classical themes comes from Johann Sebastian Bach's Third Suite for Orchestra. The Air on a G-string has already been adapted for many instrumental combinations, but arrangements for concert-band are a comparatively rare commodity. This void is filled with this highly competent wind-band setting by Jan Bosveld. Needless to say that the work is suitable for many occasions. 05:30

£149.99Colditz Castle Wind Band Set (Score & Parts)
Written as a commission by the Stichting de Inrichting foundation of Wijk bij Duurstede (the Netherlands), Rob Goorhuis Requiem voor de mens (Requiem for Man) on lyrics by Andr? van Zwieten was composed in the year 2001. This work for choir and wind-band greatly impressed the audience, whilst its composer remained obsessed by its war theme. When he subsequently heard that the Rundfunk Blasorchester from the German town of Leipzig -a place not far from Colditz - was to dedicate a CD to his work, Rob Goorhuis got the idea to process some of the themes from his Requiem for Man into an instrumental composition about the famous Colditz castle. a place still bearing the scars of war. From 1933 to 1934, the castle was a Schutzhaftlager. During the Second World War, it was used as a prison for senior officers. From this prison, many escapes were undertaken, which even resulted in the castle being nicknamed The Escape School. In the seventies, a television-series about this period made the castle very well-known with the public at large. The despondent tone of the opening theme underscores the sadness caused by wars and violence. Nevertheless the works ending is hopeful and triumphant. Peace is celebrated, but with the hope for a lasting peace sadly remaining a topical issue to the present moment. 09:30
