£159.60Les Uns et Les Autres - Francis Lai
In his three hours lasting box-office hit 'Les Uns et les Autres' the French filmmaker Claude Lelouch describes the joys and sorrows, important events and everyday incidents of the lives of a number of people. The film covers a period going from 1936 up to 1980, including the Second World War. Many musical aspects make the soundtrack very important to the film; think of the Paris Music-Hall music, the Glenn Miller music in the States, the pop music and even the ballet music. The fabulous interpretation of Ravel's 'Bolero' is a fantastic climax. The Bolero, however is not included in this selection, as it has been published seperately in an arrangement for band by Henk van Lijnschooten.

£76.80Fandango Fantasy - Hans van der Heide
Though composed as a simple unpretentious little work, this 'Fandango Fantasy' sounds somewhat virtuoso. The slow middlepart makes us think of the plendid piano pieces by the Spanish composer Isaac Albeniz, many of wich have already been orchestrated for wind band. The quick part with which the work starts and ends (in a whirling finale) is the actual fandango.

£76.80The Lion King - Hans Zimmer
The popular and excentric British singer, pianist and composer Elton John (1947) reached the international hitparades with such songs as 'Crocodile Rock' and 'Candle in the Wind'. It was a stroke of genius of the Walt Disney Studios to invite him to write the soundtrack for their latest full length cartoon 'The Lion King' (June 1994). Its success rapidly surpassed that of 'Aladdin' and even that of 'Beauty and the Beast'. Its credit titles mention over 600 names! The adventures of King Muphasa and Crown Prince Simba are wonderfully backed by Elton John's songs 'Circle of Life', 'I just can't wait to be King' and 'Can you feel the Love'. Hans van der Heide signed this extremely well sounding wind band arrangement.

£73.80Adagio - Samuel Barber
Adagio for Strings is one of the most well-known and loved pieces from Samuel Barber. Barber himself, arranged the 2nd movement of his first string quartet for string orchestra. By popular demand, Ton van Grevenbroek has arranged this wonderful piece for concert band. The slow musical lines and the minor key make the Adagio truly one of the saddest pieces of music ever composed. This song is even more famous due to the movie Platoon by Oliver Stone.

£69.00Suite Aus Dem Lustgarten - Hans Leo Hassler
German composer Hans Leo Hassler composed this suite at the end of the 16th century. Hassler was a student of the famous composer Gabrieli who mainly wrote for brass ensembles. This is the reason why Hassler, while only composing a relatively smaller amount of work, composed mainly for the same type of ensemble. This arrangement from Jan van Beekum is characteristic of it's time and is for a 5 voice, flexible setting and percussion.
