£79.99A Repton Fantasy - C. Hubert Parry
Sir Hubert Parry (1848-1918) belongs to a forgotten generation of English composers who are often over-shadowed by Sir Edward Elgar, and the result has been that much of their work is little played or forgotten. In Parry?s case, he is now mostly remembered for his hymn tunes, such as Jerusalem and Repton, both marvellous melodies, of course. The latter first appeared in Parry?s oratorio Judith and was adapted as a hymn tune after the composer?s death. The solo part can be played by a trumpet, clarinet or alto saxophone and will give yourchosen soloist a chance to shine.

£149.99Southend Celebration - Philip Sparke
The work opens with a stern fanfare in bare fifths, which leads to a cantabile theme introduced by alto saxophone. This builds to a climax and reintroduces the fanfare, which slowly evolves into the subsequent vivo. A perky tune emerges on flute, saxophone and trumpet, which, after a short bridge passage, leads to a contrasting melody on low clarinets and saxophones. After some development a true 'second subject' appears for the whole band. A recapitulation leads briefly back to the opening fanfare before the vivo returns to close the work in celebratory mood.

£55.25Suite - A Renaissance Christmas (Wind Band) Kevin Norbury
VIEW SCORE PDF This magnificent festive suite was written by Kevin Norbury for the Pierre Elliott Trudeau High School Wind Symphony and features three well known carols set in a Renaissance style. Three contrasting movements comprise the work: i. Processional (Personent hodie - On this day earth shall ring) This is a short piece imagining a torchlight Yuletide procession (perhaps bearing the traditional roasted wild boar), using a well-known Christmas melody from the large collection of music compiled in the 16th century called Piae Cantiones (1582). The tune is presented twice with accompanying, related melodic material. ii. Pastorale (Quem pastores laudavere - Shepherds sang their praises o'er him) This is a 14th-century melody which was originally collected by Michael Praetorius at the end of the 16th-century. The treatment throughout is very lyrical without overly complex harmonies. The melody is heard three times with brief linking episodes and a short coda. iii. Celebration! (In dulci jubilo - In sweet celebration - Ding-dong merrily on high) This magnificent 13th-century melody was also a part of Michael Praetorius's collection. It is traditionally associated with the words 'Good Christian men, rejoice!' The opening is a straight transcription of the great chorale prelude for organ by J.S. Bach. After the grandeur of the opening, the tune is heard in more of a 'folky' style. A lot of related melodic material is then presented before the tune Ding-dong merrily on high is heard. After another episode of previously used music In dulci jubilo reappears in a joyful conclusion to the piece. £132.95MUSIC FOR AROSA (Prestige Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Sparke, Philip
This work was commissioned in 1996 by the Arosa Cultural committee and first performed in Arosa in that year. The majestic introduction opens with trombones and euphonium, heralding a legato theme, chorale-like in character. A pair of flutes introduce a new theme. A trumpet introduces a series of highly syncopated solos, which feature many metre changes, and the tempo increases when playful motifs are exchanged between various sections of the band. A solo clarinet introduces an expressive tune. A brass chorale follows, with interruptions from the flute and bassoon, until the clarinet tune is played by the whole band. This reaches a climax and the mood subsides to reach a quiet horn chord. The broad legato tune returns and the excitement increases until the march theme triumphantly returns to full band. This leads to the coda which is based on the opening fanfare and closes the work emphatically. (Grade 5) Performance time 11'01" (Recorded on QPRM138D BREAKING THE CENTURY, Central Band of the Royal Air Force)

Light-Walk - Score and Parts - Barrie Gott
Program NotesThe tune Walk in the Light received "big band" treatment in this fun arrangement from the pen of Australian Barrie Gott. Barrie's originality and flair shine through as his own original music sits comfortably alongside the old tune. There is a central 'jazz break' solo passage placed in the trumpet line in which the written solo notation is supplemented by chord indications that will offer scope for improvisation by the soloist if desired. This is an entertaining piece that will prove to be a popular addition to the repertoire, both from the listeners' and players' viewpoints.
