The inspiration for this piece came when the composer visited Florida and the Bird Sanctuary in Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom. He was in the audience to see the rare bird show where he witnessed some fabulous looking and endangered birds that were trained to perform different tricks that wowed the audience. The highlight for him was the conclusion of the show where the most awesome sight greeted us as an American Bald Eagle soared over the audience. That particular breed of Eagle has been a very rare bird of late. With so few in numbers, it nearly became a member of the sad group of animals that are extinct.The host of the show took great delight in informing the audience that the fantastic creature is now officially safe and no longer classed as endangered. This made a great impact on the composer as the Eagle is an amazing bird, huge in size and power and yet so graceful in flight. This piece is everything associated with the Eagle; bold, powerful and graceful and now free to soar and sing in the American homelands.Where Eagles Sing has been hugely successful as a curtain-raiser (or finale) with brass bands around the world and it is hoped that this version for concert band will be just as popular.Duration: 4.00

God So Loved the World - Score and Parts - Sir John Stainer
The Crucifixion, an oratorio composed by John Stainer in 1887 was designed in such a way that most church choirs would find it accessible. Also, it helpfully includes five hymns so that the congregation can contribute also. Whilst the text for this work was written by W J Sparrow Simpson, who worked with Stainer in an earlier work entitled 'Mary Magdalene', that used in this setting of 'God, so loved the world' is literal from John 3 verse 16 in the scriptures. This movement of 'The Crucifixion' is the most popular and widely used.

Midnight Sleighride (Troika) - Sergei Prokofiev
The music from Lieutenant Kij? was Prokofiev's first attempt at composing film music. In 1933 he was commissioned by the Soviet Union to compose music for a film of the same name and he later adapted this music into an orchestral suite that has since become highly popular. Troika, which forms the 4th movement of this 5 movement suite, was composed to give the impression of a fast winter's journey on a troika which is a traditional sleigh pulled by three horses. With the inclusion of sleigh-bells in the orchestration it has been often associated with the Christmas period and still is to this day.

In more recent years, many of her tunes have found their why into instrumental repertoire.A prime example of Joy's remarkable gifting is her beautiful Share My Yoke. Although the deeply spiritual words of Share My Yoke may be unfamiliar to some, the sheer beauty of the melody is without doubt. The chorus is reproduced here to offer an insight into the song's meaning:Your slightest movement I will feel and understand.Share my yoke, and come the way that I must go,In our togetherness my peace you'll know.The world beholding us will see it's so.Calling for real sensitivity both from soloist and accompanying group, this is an extremely rewarding piece to play - and a moving listening experience for the audience.The arranger, Ivor Bosanko, who lives in California following retirement from the post of Territorial Music Director in The Salvation Army's USA Western Territory, is himself a respected songwriter, composer and arranger. £55.00The Declaration of Arbroath - Andrew Duncan
Programme notes from the composer, Andrew Duncan:Originally written for The West Lothian Schools' Annual Concert 2006 and scored for Concert Band, Brass Band, Highland Bagpipes, Children's Choir and Narrator. This version has been rescored for Concert Band with optional parts for Highland Bagpipes and Narrator. The piece celebrates the internationally renowned Declaration of Arbroath. The music begins in the uncertain times of Scotland's early 14th century, following the Battle of Banockburn and the death of William Wallace. The narrator describes this scene and explains the origins of the Declaration. The music builds to a climax, but once again gives way to uncertainty, allowing the narrator to explain further the history surrounding the Declaration. A group of Scottish Nobles wrote the Declaration which was an appeal to the Pope to recognize Scotland's independence. The piece then reflects a positive outcome following the Pope's support of the Declaration. Further information is provided by the narrator which draws to a rousing build to express the emotive inspiration behind this composition.The original scoring (to include Concert Band, Brass Band, Highland Bagpipes, Choir and Narrator) is also available by request.
