Cut to the Chase (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Stalter, Todd
In popular jargon, the phrase "cut to the chase" means to get to the really interesting or important point, and leave out all that is unnecessary. It originated from early cinematic lore when silent films were full of romantic story lines that inevitably led to much more exciting and memorable chase sequences. In this work, the melodic fragments are tossed around the band to give the impression that everyone is being chased or chasing something. To pay homage to the phrase's past, the frantic atmosphere stops for an obligatory inclusion of a slow, romantic chord progression with a soaring melody, and then the chase resumes, building to a rousing conclusion.Duration: 2:30

Two Bagatelles (Flexible Ensemble - Score and Parts) - Reed, Alfred - Clark, Andy
Alfred Reed's "Two Bagatelles" was first published as a trombone quartet, then enlarged to a brass choir and finally to a full concert band setting. Andy Clark has taken it back to its beginnings and adapted it for the Barnhouse Build-A-Band Series, so that students in very small bands will get a chance to perform music by this master composer. Sounds great if the four basic parts are covered among the instruments present.Duration: 5.00

The Idol of the Flies (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Cesarini, Franco
The book The Idol of the Flies by Jane Rice (1913-2005) is a classic of horror literature. It is the story of a child who, in an incredible series of cruel actions, persecutes those around him. The composer has chosen not to reproduce the contents of the tale with music, but to create its archaic and mysterious atmosphere. Like many other horror classics, the setting, and the atmosphere of the story are more important than the contents of the tale itself. Get your audience quaking in their boots with this horrific tale!Duration: 9:15
