The Eve of War (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Wayne, Jeff - Keeley, Ed
When Jeff Wayne's musical adaptation H.G.Wells' novel The War of the Worlds was originally released, no one would have believed that it would become so popular. The Eve of the War, the stunning opening scene of Wayne's show, became a huge international hit single in its own right. This new arrangement by the highly respected British composer/arranger Ed Keeley retains all the drama and tension of the original atmospheric opening. A joy to perform and a pleasure to listen to.Duration: 4:15

The Fair Field Overture (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Arnold, Malcolm
The Fairfield Halls are built on the site of Croydon's old fair field and the music is rather reminiscent of a huge switchback ride in three-four time interspersed with a sprightly two-four prelude which seems to depict the general jollity of the fair ground. The main tune then expands to three-two time making for a grandiose finale. The general structure of the music is based on the chord of the major seventh which produces an interesting hurdy-gurdy effect.

The composition ".The Fever Tree". in 2008 was commissioned by the Music Association of Central and Eastern Netherlands St.Willibrord as a gift to all its members on the occasion of the formation of a national music organization and the elimination of the music union for Central and Eastern Netherlands St.Willibrord. The Gilded Theatre (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Hesketh, Kenneth
The Gilded Theatre was commissioned by the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain on the occasion of its fortieth anniversary. They gave the first performance on 10th August 2008, at St. John's Smith Square, London conducted by James Gourlay. The Gilded Theatre can, in some ways, be seen as a continuation of dramatic forms as presented in a previous piece by Hesketh, Diaghilev Dances. Unlike the Dances, however the music in The Gilded Theatre is conceived as one continuous span and stretches of music are also subtitled and refer to stock characters or scenarios redolent of the commedia dell'arte or 17th Century French Theatre. The subtitles are Rideau, Les Idiots Ou Les Amants, Le Combat Commence, Desespoir, L'apparition, Folie, La Mort, Rideau. The music narrative progresses through dramatic, comedic, romantic and aggressive moods supporting the idea of the abstract play to which the the above subtitles refer. Throughout the piece the composer has sought to challenge the players both technically and emotionally, and it is the players themselves who are in fact the protagonists in the piece.

The Golden City Wind Band Set (Score & Parts)
Prague, also named 'The Golden City', has been the cultural and administrative capital city of the Czech Republic for thousands of years. The city is beautifully situated on the river Moldau. Every year millions of tourists visit Prague. It is one of the most popular cities of Eastern Europe. With it's mysterious little squares, dark alley ways and cobblestone streets, the 'City of the 100 Towers' is a unique mixture of architecture, dominated by monumental buildings, numerous churches and the oldest castle of Europe. The Bohemian capital city remains timeless. Visit the fort and be amazed at the lovely views over the Charles Bridge. Spend your time carefully browsing through the little stalls filled with paintings, photos, jewelery and hand-decorated products, accompanied by the sounds of the street musicians in the background. Notice the famous 15 th century astronomical clock that indicates the time every hour with a parade of the twelve apostles. When composing this piece, it was Jan Bosveld's intention to depict the atmosphere of this metropolitan city with over one million inhabitants, rather than to create a fairly literal musical portrait. One of the many other names of Prague is 'The City of the Clocks'. This can be heard throughout the piece depicted by the tubular bells. The piece consists of three movements (slow-fast-slow) and was written in a rhapsodic format. Jan Bosveld was commissioned to write 'The Golden City' by the Dutch Music Lend and Information Centre (MUI), a department of the library for the province of Gelderland in Arnhem, the Netherlands. 14:30

The Gospel Mass (Concert Band - Score and Parts)
The Gospel Mass -a mass for mixed choir, combo and concert band-is based on the gospel music that has spread throughout the world since its creation in America. The movements of the mass ordinary as we know it have now been composed in various pop styles that have their origin in the gospel music. We hear, then, not only the classic American gospel style (including the characteristic clapping and swing rhythms), but also freer gospel styles that have developed over the course of time. As far as we know, The Gospel Mass is the only true gospel mass. Choral parts available separately.

The Great Gate of Kiev Wind Band Set (Score & Parts)
The Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky (1839-1881) was self-educated to a large extent but went on to become one of the ?Mighty Five? which also included Balakirev, Cui, Borodin and Rimsky-Korsakov. Today he is considered the innovator of Russian music par excellence. He composed Pictures at an Exhibition in 1874, inspired by ten pictures produced by his then recently deceased friend, the Russian architect and artist Victor Hartmann. The French composer Maurice Ravel made an orchestration of Mussorgsky?s composition in 1922 which is now more well-known and more performed than the original piano suite. For his transcription of Pictures at an Exhibition, Tohru Takahashi made use of the original piano composition by Mussorgsky. The Great Gate of Kiev, issued here separately, is probably the best known melody from this classical masterpiece. 0:05:45

The Great Land Run - Anderson, Jackson
An exciting journey through the old west, "The Great Land Run" paints an exhilarating picture of 1889 Oklahoma. A fanfare-like main theme at the beginning is followed by the night around the campfire. As the settlers rest, a gentle storm washes over them bringing forth the questions of what tomorrow may bring. As morning rises, they head back on their way to stake their plot of land and new life. A powerful recap of the main theme drives this piece to an exciting end. With multiple opportunities for solos in the flute, clarinet, oboe, and trumpet, this piece will offer a fun, yet challenging experience for any concert band! Highly recommended!
