This well know Christmas Carol has a French tune from the 16th century dance book Orch?sographie, written by Jehan Tabourot. The original title is "Le branle de l'Official". The lyrics were written by Englishman George Ratcliffe Woodward in 1924. Woodward took an interest in church bell ringing, which is easy to hear in his lyrics, and the arrangement also tries to portray this. The song is unusual in that the verse is sung in an old-style English, while the chorus is in latin, with it's signature melisma on the word "Gloria". Reflections by Robert Langenfeld, was commissioned by a consortium (alumni/friends/family/UCM Bands/ CTS Pubs) for Dr. Russell Coleman in celebration of his 90th birthday and his service as director of bands at the University of Central Missouri (CMSU) for 32 years. Langenfeld was given guidelines for the composition which included a clarinet soli (Coleman is a clarinetist), excerpts from "Dance Prelude" (commissioned by Dr. Coleman and the UCM Phi Mu Alpha chapter, written by Claude T. Smith for the CMSU (UCM) Band in 1978), the UCM Alma Mater and the UCM fight song, "Go Mules." This work was premiered on June 17, 2018 by the Warrensburg Community Band, under guest conductor, Dr. Anthony Pursell, at the 2018 Missouri Bandmasters Association Summer Convention at Tan-Tar-A in Osage Beach, MO. Dr. Russell Coleman has been the conductor for the Warrensburg Community Band since 1985. Duration: 5.30

Samuel Scheidt (1587 - 1654) was a German composer, organist and teacher of the early Baroque era, and was one of Germany's most distinguished composers at that time, especially in the field of keyboard music. His three volumes of Tabulatura nova (1624) are a monumental compendium of song and dance arrangements, sets of variations, fantasias, toccatas, fugues and liturgical pieces (often plainsong-based) for the Lutheran Mass and Office. Likewise his four books of Geistliche Konzerte illustrate the ways of elaborating a chorale, fusing declamatory ideas with contrapuntal writing. Scheidt was the first internationally significant German composer for the organ, and represents the flowering of the new north German style, which occurred largely as a result of the Protestant Reformation. Scheidt's music is in two principal categories: instrumental music, including a large amount of keyboard music, mostly for organ; and sacred vocal music, some of which is a cappella and some of which uses a basso continuo or other instrumental accompaniment. Edited for double chorus by David Willcocks, this arrangement represents one in the Series of Band Arrangements compatible with David Willcocks' Carols for Choirs.

Five years after the release of the monster album Thriller, which sold a record-breaking 105 million copies worldwide up to this date, this second single from the album Bad, released in 1987, also peaked at number one on the Billboard chart. This song was performed during Michael's first solo world tour that started from Japan (Korakuen Stadium) in September 1987. The short film directed by Martin Scorsese also generated great publicity. In particular, the animated group dance scene in the subway made a huge impact on the viewers and distinguished Michael's image. As the video depicts, "bad" in this song's lyrics indicate the kicking, cool unruly living on the streets.
