Festival on the Rivers - Rob Grice
Here is an exciting new overture for the young concert band in the conventional A-B-A form. A dance-like main theme is scored in the woodwinds with a bright, driving brass and percussion accompaniment. A short alto saxophone solo highlights the lush B section before returning to the main theme and coda. Excellent for concert and festival.

Dedicatum - Timothy Loest
This exciting new overture begins with a bold unison statement presented under an upper woodwind ostinato. The unison statement continues to develop until it is presented in full harmony. Softer treatments of the melody along with lyrical passages full of suspensions all contribute to the overall quality of the piece. Excellent writing!

£90.30Quatre Bras - Willy Hautvast
The title of this work is pure fantasy. You could think it refers to the four parts composing this piece.1. Entry: a solemn overture starting in the minor and ending in the major key.2. Dance: a quite light piece boasting very irregular rhythms.3. Reverie: a short piece with a rather dreamy character with ups and downs and with a rather free tempo.4. Cortege (Procession): the procession starts at a solemn pace and proceeds very merrily towards a final full of rich sounds.

£140.80Piece Heroique - César Franck
Csar Franck (1822-1890) was born in Liege, Belgium, and his great musical talent was discovered when he was still a small boy. When he was 12 years old, his family moved to Paris. In the French capital he was active as a teacher, an organist and a conductor. In 1858 he was appointed organist at the Sainte Clotilde Church in Paris; that church boasted brand new Cavaill-Coll organ. For this instrument Franck wrote Six pices pour grand orgue (Six pieces for grand organ) in 1862 and in 1878 Trois pices pour grand orgue (Three pieces for grand organ), one of those pieces being Pice Hroque . This energetic and lively composition starts with the typical rhythm of a traditional French overture. The central choral is in a major key, but then major and minor keys alternate and the work ends with a powerful fortissimo.

£115.60Infinity Forest - Haakon Esplo
The concert overture "Infinity Forest" draws inspiration from an ancient forest, standing majestically, enveloped in mystery and secrets. Venturing into this forest, one never knows what awaits. It lies dark and quiet, interrupted by clearings where the sunlight breaks through."Infinity Forest" serves as a magnificent opening for any concert and is equally an excellent choice for competition repertoire. The music presents challenges of both technical and musical nature for all instrument groups, offering great opportunities to focus on precision, timbres, and intonation. While the lower parts are designed for easier difficulty, the lead parts present greater challenges.A simplified part for flute and horn has also been made available, instruments which traditionally only have one part in the Young Band series.
