Spirit of the Lake (from Legend of the Lake) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Glyn, Gareth - Noble, Paul

The origins of Legend of the Lake lie in music Gareth Glyn composed for a film which wove a tale of smuggling, treachery and unrequited love into the fabric of old legends, some dating from Celtic times, about one of the many sacred lakes of Anglesey. Whether the music depicts the fleet-footedness of smugglers' ponies, the summary punishment of outlaws or the bittersweetness of remembrance, the theme of the Spirit of the Lake, first heard on a distant trumpet at the beginning, is never far away.

March for A History of the English-Speaking Peoples (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Walton, William - Noble, Paul

In 1959, William Walton was commissioned to compose music for the opening and closing credits of a television series based on Winston Churchill's History of the English-speaking Peoples. The resulting work, March for the History of the English-Speaking Peoples, was recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra in May of that year and later published by Oxford University Press. However, the television project never materialised, and consequently Walton's score, which might have become one of his more familiar among popular audiences through television exposure, was all but forgotten. With the moderate surge in popularity that Walton's music enjoyed in the last decade of the twentieth century, this and other little-known pieces have become available for consideration. Concert Bands will enjoy the majesty and drama of this piece, very appropriate for concerts, ceremonies, and graduations.

Lake of the Moon (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Houben, Kevin

The travels of the Aztec people as they headed south through North America looking for a new home, acted as the inspiration for Lake of the Moon. The composition contains small fragments of Oriental music and South American rhythms and occasionally, Russian Cossacks seem to raise their heads. The journey from North to South is not without danger, which is represented by threatening sounds within the music. In the Adagio divoto the composer takes us along to the Texcoco Lake, which the Aztecs called the lake of the moon. Bring a little bit of South American history to your concert with Lake of the Moon.Duration: 11:00
