"Watch What Happens" is taken from the film score of "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg," composed by Michel Legrand in 1964. The music was nominated for a Grammy that same year, and the film itself won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes International Film Festival.This arrangement was written for Kampen Janitsjarorkester, a band conducted by Thingns for more than 30 years. They performed it at both indoor and outdoor concerts. Multiple percussion parts beyond the drum set are specifically designed for outdoor use and marching setups.

Johan Svendsen (1840 - 1911) was the first great Norwegian symphonic composer, as well as one of the leading conductors of his time. Next to Edv. Grieg, he was the most prominent figure in Norwegian music life at the end of the 1800's. Although he came from humble beginnings in Chistiania (now Oslo), he was to become a cosmopolitan who felt at home all over Europa. Svendsen spent most of his adult life abroad, living in Copenhagen for 25 years as maestro for the Royal Theatre Orchestra. Nonetheless he retained contact with Norway troughout these years and was a frequent and popular guest in his native country. He wrote his Festival Polonaise for a ball in 1873. Al Hayes was one of seven pseudonyms used by famous march composer Henry Fillmore. Fillmore became so popular and was so prolific in the early part of the 20th century that he had to resort to pennames as to not compete with himself. This is yet another tuneful, well-written march by Fillmore that has been given new life in this setting by arranger Laurie Lafferty.
