Red Lines (CB) - Stijn Aertgeerts
Red Lines was commissioned by the Swiss Army Brass Band and their conductor Philipp Werlen. The title is a reference to their very distinctive black uniforms with Red vertical lines. Switzerland is a country with a tremendously rich brass band culture and have some of the best bands in the world. The individual level of musicians is also of incredibly high quality. The work begins very bombastically with continuous 8th notes. This immediately sets the drive for the entire first movement where the low brass and woodwinds can also show off huge sounds several times. It culminates in a grand tutti before the music calms down in the second movement where the euphonium can show its solistic qualities and the band can show a big difference in dynamics and sound. The final movement is driven by the drums and timpani that provide a solid boost to keep moving the thematic material forward in the band and through the percussion solo a big build-up to a glorious finale.

The Winds of Banele (CB) - Dominique Fonteyn
Balen, originally called Banele, is a municipality in the south-east of the Antwerp Kempen region. With its vast and varied landscapes, canals and peaceful nature reserves, it is a paradise for walkers and cyclists. When the wind blows across the landscape, it is music to the ears of many locals. "The Winds of Banele" was commissioned by Koninklijke Harmonie "De Toekomst" Balen on the occasion of their 150th anniversary.

Panic Button (CB) - Paul Saggers
Panic Button was commissioned by Bert Van Thienen especially for 2022 World Music Contest in Kerkrade (NL). The composer was given complete freedom musically, however, he was given two conditions. First, it had to be an atypical work, a composition that puts the orchestra in a different perspective than the traditional repertoire and be suitable for both concert and competition stages. Second, it had to give the musicians the opportunity to go completely wild for a while. On the one hand, to shake off any stress and, on the other, to give them energy for the rest of the program. Franz von Supp gained world fame with the overture of Poet and Peasant (1846). The work is one of the most popular works of the light classical repertoire. 'Poet and Peasant' was composed not for one of his own operettas but as a part of incidental music to a play by a colleague named Karl Elmar.

Abendlied (Evening song) is a sacred motet by Josef Rheinberger for a six-part mixed choir. He wrote the first version in 1855 at the age of 15. It is perhaps his most famous choral work, which looks backward to the great sacred music of the Renaissance.
