"MYTHORAMA" Return to the Homeric Scheria. Composed in 2017 for the youth Band of the Corfu Philharmonic Society, is the 3rd Movement of the suite "In the mythical land of the Phaeacians". This piece brings the listener to Corfu in the time of Homer and describes the life of the Phaeacians, their love for music and the serenity of their island. The colorful range of the winds and the use of a wide variety of percussion instruments offers a sound that could well be used as a film score.

The composition "Northern Anniversary" was written for 'Leeuwarden, Cultural Capital of Europe 2018', commissioned by the 'Joost Wiersma' Music Association in Jistrum and is a festive work. A short opening fanfare is followed by a cheerful faster section using themes comprised of a type of bolero, and one more majestic in nature. Then comes a sombre and more reflective middle section, which features various solo contributions, and concludes with a reprise of the faster first section.

£224.99The Miracle - Bert Appermont
This work was inspired by the 3rd/4th century legend of Margaret of Antioch. Margaret was very devout, and lived as a shepherdess in the countryside. When the city prefect Olybrius proposed to her, on the condition that she would give up her faith, she refused and was eventually put to death. To evoke the archaic early-medieval atmosphere, Bert Appermont has used two Gregorian Kyries. In addition, influences from old music (such as old modes and parallel fifths) and Carl Orff's work are present. This four movement piece is an epic symphonic poem-like work with an incredible expressiveness and is ideal for a thematic concert or a contest.

'Mariachi' refers to typical Mexican street bands as well a musical genre which has been recognized since 2011 on the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage. The Norwegian vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Jan Eggum is regarded as one of our most important musicians in the Norwegian folk art and popular music. He recorded his debut album "Jan Eggum" in 1975 and is since then recognized as a "cheerful melancholic". This medley include three of his best and most famous songs: De skulle begrave en konge stor (1979), Mor jeg vil tilbake (1990) and P'an igjen (1997). This arrangement was commissioned by Jernbanens Musikkorps in Oslo with support from NOPA (Norwegian Society of Composers and Lyricists). The durata of this arrangement is approx. 8 minutes. For a shorter version, it's facilliated to omit one orseveral repeats.

The composer and musician Trygve Hoff was born and raised at Rognan in Nordland and gained a lot of inspiration for his texts from the North Norwegian culture. He is a composer and copywriter of many of our most popular songs. "Ei hand holde i" and "Har en drm" with music by Svein Gundersen and especially his own "North Norwegian Christmas Psalm" are famous songs in Norway. "Lullaby in advent" may not be among his most famous songs, but it's a beautiful and thoughtful melody that will fit well with any Christmas concert. Hoff himself varied with musical styles on this song. This arrangement is written as a jazz-version with swing feel.

The Spell is a musical interpretation of an old legend from the Alpstein, a mystical mountain area in the east of Switzerland. According to the tale, a shepherd boy, Hennes, cared for his animals on the alpine pastures, but many of the animals fell ill with a terrible plague and died. The mountain spirit appeared to Hennes out of the mists of Sntis and so the story unfolds... The music of The Spell follows the narrative of this legend, in which musical motifs are assigned to the essential elements of the story, a technique seen in late romantic repertoire by composers such as Wagner or Richard Strauss.

The third movement of Robert Buckley's grandly cinematic suite describing impressions of the seas of the moon, Sea of Clouds was inspired by a series of paintings done by Claude Monet in the London fog. Monet captured thegradations of light as it was affected by fog with ghostly images sifting through. This movement is mostly subdued and dreamlike, the music ebbing and flowing and eventually building to a vast wall of sound and then dissolvinginto silence. Dur: 5:05
