Triumphal March (from Aida) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Verdi, Giuseppe - Richard, Douglas

There is a saying that "the test of great music is that it stands the test of time." While there have been many triumphal marches written by great composers, few are as well-known as this powerful and exuberant march from Act II of Giuseppe Verdi's 1871 grand opera, Aida. This arrangement is orchestrated to showcase the richness and capabilities of the contemporary wind band and is based on the early 20th Century setting by the famous Italian bandmaster and composer Giuseppe Creatore. America (Land of Liberty) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Hodges, Steve

Beginning with a strong introduction by the trumpets, this arrangement provides three effective settings of America. The first two settings are at a moderate march tempo in 4/4 time featuring the clarinets and trumpets, followed by a lush presentation by the low brass and woodwinds. A lively flute countermelody accompanies the first setting. The final presentation begins with a brass chorale in the traditional 3/4 meter that leads to a stirring conclusion featuring a flowing woodwind countermelody. A short rallentando leads to a spirited return of the original march countermelody that brings the piece to an exciting conclusion. Duration: 2.30

March (from Third Suite) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Jager, Robert - Wagner, Douglas E.

In the words of the composer, Robert Jager, the steady feel and rhythm of a march are somewhat distorted by measures of unequal time values. It is a delight to finally offer this distinguished and time-honoured band classic in a practical arrangement with younger players in mind. Although the diminished technical demands at this level have dictated some specific and broad changes, the original style, intent and musical colour of the work have been maintained.Duration: 2.30

Medal of Valor (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Hodges, Steve

This dynamic march begins with a strong motif by the trumpets, accented by the woodwinds and low brass. The aggressive minor melody is passed from section to section and is supported by an active rhythmic accompaniment.
