Eventide (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - De Haan, Jacob

Eventide (Song of Liberation) has as its theme the European liberation from the Second World War. After a solemn introduction, one hears the melody of the hymn Abide with Me, which was sung frequently during the war. Variations on the theme follow, finally leading to the magisterial conclusion that represents the ultimate liberation. Bring a bit of nostalgic history to life with this stirring composition.

American Landscape No.1 (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Smith, Robert W.

Lake Township, Ohio. Musically depicting the lake community from Ohio, American Portrait No.1 features two distinct musical "images". Following the introductory fanfare, "On the Town" captures the cheerful hustle and bustle of the community as the town comes to life each morning. "Mist of the Morn" recalls the distinct image of green rolling hills in the beautiful countryside wrapped in the morning mist as the sun rises above the horizon. Duration: 6.15

Milestone Overture (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Brosse, Dirk

This work was written at the pivotal point of both two centuries and two millennia. With its hopeful melodies and triumphant parts in the brass section, the opening pictures the dawning of a new era of great expectations, characterized by the high speed of communicating all over the world, which is one of the most important aspects of life in the 21st century. This is achieved by musical themes being rapidly transferred from one musician to another. In this vortex of information and fast business transactions, the sense of individuality threatens to become extinct. At this point, Brosse silences the orchestra (a symbol of society) and draws attention to those people who are less fortunate than most of us. This focus on other people culminates with an orchestral climax in which all powers come together with a feeling of euphoria.Duration: 7:45

Marcia A Montecelio (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Naumann, Siegfried

Monticello is the name of a little place northeast of Rome where my wife and I have rented a simple home for more than 20 years. We participated intensively in the cultural life of the community where there was also a little band, the Banda Municipale Cornicolana, which consisted of about 55 wind players, mostly youngsters. One day, the "Il Direttore" came to me and asked if I would like to write a march for them, which I naturally did. It became the Marcia a Montecelio. After 14 rehearsals, with everyone tired, perspiring and red in the face, we were forced to give up. The march was too difficult for them. I then wrote another, easier march for them to perform at the forthcoming feast of San Michaeli. The Montecelio march was composed on pure inspiration in just two days. It is written in the Italian style - with a pinch of Sousa.

Fantasy Tales (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Swerts, Piet

This work, reminiscent of a film score, describes the history of the Dutch town Horn. A broad lyrical theme, played by the horns, depicts the history of this town on the river Meuse. A cheerful Allegro represents rural life around the town and its castle. Following this the horn theme returns and the music changes dramatically. A drum roll symbolises the times of war that the town and castle have known. The threatening music eventually develops once more into the hopeful horn theme, a sign of reconstruction and the future.Duration: 10:45

Abraham Wind Band Set (Score & Parts)

This tone poem for concert band is based on the Old Testament tale of Abraham, who was ready unconditionally to make the greatest sacrice he could: that of his own son, Isaac. In Ferrer Ferran's starkly contrasting composition the emotions that this tale evokes come to the fore: the bliss of divine life and humanity, as opposed to worry, fear and self-sacrifice. 13:35

    Freedom Rising

"Freedom Rising" was written in commemoration of the 150 anniversary of Quantrill's raid on the unsuspecting town of Lawrence, Kansas where the residents bravely fought to defend their town from the forces of pro-slavery western counties. Opening with a dark and haunting woodwind choir, the composition quickly journeys into the raging battle that took place that fateful August day in 1863. The slower middle section is a powerful hymn expressing the hope of all townspeople for a successful defense to this sneak-attack. The dramatic powerful conclusion leaves us with the knowledge that this community fought desperately for the freedom of all people. A powerful piece that brings to life this brief but important period in American history.
