Lawrence of Arabia - Maurice Jarre
David Lean's epic film Lawrence of Arabia was nominated for ten Academy Awards and won seven, including Best Original Score for Maurice Jarre's masterful musical depiction of the exotic world through which T.H. Lawrence passed. Alfred Reed's setting of the music for concert band, available here for the first time in full score with newly edited parts, is built on two of the main themes: the Arabian motif, with its blazing color and almost-barbaric effects; and the Lawrence theme, a haunting, poignant melody that reflects both his love of the desert and his internal, psychological conflicts.

St. Lawrence Chronicles
Take a historical journey into the heart of the continent along the powerful St. Lawrence River as the early French explorers did. The immensity and beauty of this historic river is captured in bold brass fanfares. Haunting woodwind themes encapsulate the relentless exploration of the New World, and the lush, melodic slow section presents many opportunities for lyrical playing. Ideal for bands of moderate experience, this programmatic composition is perfect for contest, festival and concert performance.

Freedom Rising - David Shaffer
"Freedom Rising" was written in commemoration of the 150 anniversary of Quantrill's raid on the unsuspecting town of Lawrence, Kansas where the residents bravely fought to defend their town from the forces of pro-slavery western counties. Opening with a dark and haunting woodwind choir, the composition quickly journeys into the raging battle that took place that fateful August day in 1863. The slower middle section is a powerful hymn expressing the hope of all townspeople for a successful defense to this sneak-attack. The dramatic powerful conclusion leaves us with the knowledge that this community fought desperately for the freedom of all people. A powerful piece that brings to life this brief but important period in American history.
