The legend of Amelia Earhart continues to capture the imaginations of aviators and historians worldwide. Earhart, a pioneer in aviation and in women's rights, began her final journey in the United States and crossed multiple continents. Robert W. Smith has drawn upon Earhart's final flight to create this unique musical composition. Following the opening "takeoff," the composer was inspired by the indigenous sounds of the various continents in Earhart's flight path. From a unique fugue inspired by the music of Central and South America to a lyrical statement from the Dark Continent, the listener is transported on a musical journey that will capture the imagination. Following a dark and powerful percussion statement with Asian overtones, the journey ends not in tragedy but in celebration as the original flight theme returns. Visions of Australia' is a musical panorama paying tribute to the epochs in Australia's history from its Aboriginal predecessors through to its 'yet to be determined' future. The journey begins with a tribute to Australia's aboriginal past, the arrival of the British Navy and the establishment of the first colony on the shores of Sydney Harbour. The journey then meanders through to the development of electricity and communication, through the wars and to the present. Following a brief reflection on the past, the music concludes with a stirring and patriotic march-like section representing a confident and bold future. The work is a great challenge for all sections of the band and will be easily accessible to any audience.

Good King Wenceslas is a Christmas carol that tells a story of a Bohemian king going on a journey and braving harsh winter weather to give alms to a poor peasant on the Feast of Stephen (December 26, the Second Day of Christmas). During the journey, his page is about to give up the struggle against the cold weather, but is enabled to continue by following the king's footprints, step for step, through the deep snow. The legend is based on the life of the historical Saint Wenceslaus I, Duke of Bohemia or Svat Vclav in Czech (907-935). The name Wenceslas is a Latinised version of the old Czech language Venceslav. In 1853, English hymnwriter John Mason Neale wrote the Wenceslas lyrics, in collaboration with his music editor Thomas Helmore, and the carol first appeared in Carols for Christmas-Tide, 1853. Neale's lyrics were set to the melody of a 13th-century spring carol Tempus adest floridum (The time is near for flowering) first published in the 1582 Finnish song collection Piae Cantiones. This arrangement represents one in the Series of Band Arrangements compatible with David Willcocks' Carols for Choirs.

In 2006 Brabant will be celebrating it's 900th anniversary. On May 13th 1106 the count Van Leuven was appointed duke of Brabant. This was the birth of the duchy of Brabant. For centuries this duchy, situated in the heart of the Netherlands, was the primary of the seventeen provinces in the Lowlands. Brabant formed with it's capital cities Brussels, Leuven, Antwerp and 's-Hertogenbosch the focal point for politics, culture and economy. The revolution against Spain (1566-1648) caused a fracture between the North and South. The old duchy was divided into a Dutch and Belgian part. Even though each had their own historical background, the bond forged in the past was partially kept alive. To this day we still have a duke of Brabant. Brabantia Aeterna takes you on a musical journey through 900 years of Brabant history. A fascinating journey portraying war and peace, love and grief, prosperity and adversity, development and deterioration. Listen to how monks chanted, bells tolled and churches were built. Or take the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries with their bustling markets, builders of cities or the bleating of countless sheep across the heather. The plague, tribulations, soldiers and political bickering in the following centuries. Hear how the industrialisation of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries provided prosperity for the region and how to this day the following saying still applies: 'the road to Brabant leads to a warmer world' Brabantia Aeterna was commissioned by the Brabantse Bond van Muziekverenigingen (Brabant Music Society) in honour of its fifth anniversary. 17:00
