£104.99Galileo (Concert Band - Score and Parts)
For this spirited concert march, the creative and lively mind of the great Italian mathematician, physicist and astronomer Galileo Galilei, who lived from 1564 to 1642, served as a source of inspiration. Galileo was the founder of experimental thinking in physics, and he made numerous discoveries and formulated many useful theories in this field. His reluctance to unquestioningly accept established authorities and ideas was also typical of his inventive mind. Moreover, Galileo was more accessible to the common people. He tried to encourage them to think for themselves, and he published his research results in the form of dialogues that were easy to understand. This accessible concert march - a suitable homage to Galileo - builds a bridge between the musician and the listener. 06:10

£76.99Hot and Spicy Wind Band Set (Score & Parts)
The source (sauce!) of inspiration for this work was somewhat unusual. Whilst on tour with a youth brass group, Kazys Daug?la ate a Piri-Piri salad that had a wickedly hot sauce. He jokingly told his fellow band members that one day he would write a piece to celebrate this mouth watering experience. The result was this Hot and Spicy piece garnished with a light mambo rhythm! 0:02:45

£55.00Ides March (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Bermel, Derek
Ides March was commissioned by William Brine in 1990, Bermel's first commission. Brine requested that the work be a march suitable for performance at both a wedding and a funeral. Although originally titled Brine's March, when the composer learned that the march was to receive its premiere on 15 March, he changed the title to Ides March in a umorous nod to the Shakespearean admonition 'Beware the Ides of March'; in his youthful view a sentiment appropriate for either a wedding or a funeral. However, a line from Cole Porter was the inspiration behind the major key to minor key interplay of the work: 'What could be any finer? But how strange the change from major to minor, every time we say goodbye', a line that captured the composer's attempt to write a march that did justice to both the melancholy and triumphant. £36.95JOYANCE (Concert Band) - Pearson, Bruce
An exultant 18th century hymn-tune provides the melodic inspiration for Joyance. Written in ternary form, the work opens with a hymn-based maestoso introduction in Eb Major. Following the Allegro A section (also based melodically on the hymn), the mood becomes plaintive as the B Section is presented featuring a relative minor version of hymn motives. Following a return of the Eb Major A section, the work concludes with a coda, during which a victorious exclamation of the complete Darwall composition is heard.

£19.95KARMAN LINE, The (Prestige Concert Band Extra Score) - Meechan, Peter
Extra Score. This work takes inspiration from photos taken at the Karman Line (an invisible line 100 kilometres above sea level and is the boundary where the atmosphere of Earth ends, and outer space begins). It portrays the vastness of Space, the mechanics of Space (including shuttles and astronauts), as well as stunning views of the Earth. The main thematic material for the piece is modal, and is developed from key pitches and intervals that define the character and nature of the mixolydian mode. These are gradually introducted as accented notes over the opening ostinato. This modal music is gradually juxtaposed with a more conventional minor scale originally creating conflict and tension, but eventually harmony between these two sound-worlds. Duration: 6'24" Recorded on Polyphonic QPRM 155D Scenes from Childhood.
