"In Flanders Fields" is a play recounting the Battle of Vimy Ridge (France) which took place from April 9 to 12, 1917. The introduction refers to the thousands of graves found at the site of Notre-Dame de Lorette. Then begins the episode of preparation and fierce battle. Thanks to the Canadian Expeditionary Force that came as reinforcements, the battle was won and the site secured at 6 a.m. (brass choir accompanied by 6 bells). The title of this work also refers to a poem by John Mac Rae located at the entrance to the memorial museum."In Flanders Fields"By Col. In Flanders Fields can be performed in two ways: with any wind soloist, narrator and band, or with vocal soloist (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) and band. In the first version, the narrator speaks the poignant words of John McCrae's famous poem about the sacrifices of World War I in between phrases from the instrumental soloist. If using a vocalist, the words are sung as lyrics to the instrumental solo melodies. In Flanders Fields is a perfect selection for any patriotic concert.

Commissioned by the Military Wives Choirs to commemorate the centenary of 1918, the end of the First World War. The Vocal score is available separately - NOV167387-01To mark the centenary of the end of World War I, the Military Wives Choirs - 69 choirs from across Britain and abroad - commissioned Owain to write a piece for their album, 'Remember'. The text for Owain's work, 'The Poppy Red', is inspired by the 1918 poem 'We Shall Keep The Faith' by Moina Michael, itself inspired by John McCrae's 'In Flanders Fields'. The recording brought together 1105 voices with The Band of the Household Cavalry, conducted by Hilary Davan Wetton.
