Dublin Pictures (Concert Band - Score and Parts)
Ireland is a multi-faceted country that has developed a popular and distinctive musical culture. The first movement of Dublin Pictures reflects Irish festivals where there is dancing and traditional beer flowing. More tranquil in its feel, the second movement illustrates the landscape that can be seen from the Ha'penny Bridge, a bridge that crosses the River Liffey in Dublin. This movement highlights the wide range of the orchestra's sound colours as the musicians' voices combine with the wind and percussion to accompany the soloist. The lively and joyful rhythms of the last movement take the listener to Temple Bar, the famous tourist quarter of the city, well known for its vibrant nightlife. The music's energy and virtuosic motifs are in contrast to the previous movement and provide a spirited and festive finale.Marc Jeanbourquin wrote this piece in three movements for Azimuts Brass in 2011. He then arranged it for Concert, Fanfare or Brass Band 07:45

Dulcinea (Symphony No. 3, 'Don Quixote,' Mvt. 2)
The second of four movements in Robert W. Smith's epic work, Dulcinea tells the tale of Don Quixote's adoration of the ideal woman. Written in a sultry 5/4 tango, the audience will hear the haunting melody and feel the passion of Cervantes' knight-errant as he proclaims his love for Dulcinea de Tobosa. Featuring an English horn solo that is liberally cross-cued throughout, the initial melody gives way to the most powerful of statements before returning to the tango in a quiet, yet startling ending.

Tomaso Albinoni (1671-1751) was a prolific Baroque-era composer whose works are now rarely performed. However, he was much admired by J.S. Elegy for Albinoni, a beautiful memorial piece in honor of this musical master, uses a romantic tone to set the stage for a theme based on one of Albinoni's violin sonatas. A rewarding work! Farewell Song has been taken from Der Trompetervon S?ckingen by Victor E. Nessler (1841-1890). Thisopera tells the sentimental story of a plain musicianwho is eventually allowed to marry the daughter ofa baron. From the first performance in 1884, thisopera was well liked - not so much because of thestory but because of its musical features. Impressivetrumpet solos, drinking songs and dance scenes werethe ingredients that enthralled audiences throughoutEurope. Today, only the farewell song called JungWerner's Abschied, also known as Beh?t' dich Gott,has remained an absolute winner. Wil van der Beekhas written a fine arrangement of this entitledFarewell Song.
