£57.50Charm - Kevin Puts
Composed by 2012 Pulitzer Prize-winner Kevin Puts, Charm is a short, joyful piece written in the meter 7/8. Of the title, Puts writes, I decided to call it Charm because, for me, the music conjures up magic, good-luck charms and such, and I was also thinking of the other meaning of the word, that intangible quality possessed by certain people and places that truly can cast a spell. Free interdisciplinary curriculum for the piece is available for download at www.BandQuest.org. Learn more on YouTube! BandQuest, an exciting series of new music and accompanying curricula for band, is a program published by the American Composers Forum. The series was started as a response to feedback from music educators that there is a pressing need for new, fresh band music. The heart of this program is new works written by a diverse group of leading American composers who have created challenging pieces that are a true departure from standard middle school repertoire. Every BandQuest project includes a residency component in which the composer works collaboratively with a middle school as they create their new piece. Many BandQuest pieces are accompanied by an interdisciplinary curriculum designed to assist students as they learn the music and to integrate each piece with non-music studies. £72.99Old Macdonald Had A Farm - Leroy Anderson
Leroy Anderson's setting of Old MacDonald Had a Farm has little in the way of documentation. It was written for and programmed by the Boston Pops under Arthur Fiedler, but it did not enjoy frequent hearings, so the setting was unknown outside of Boston. Conductors should feel free to feature animal sounds closer to home (for instance the sound of pigs in swine-rich Iowa or bison in Montana). To that end it is suggested that the members of the percussion section use their creativity to add humor and local color to this arrangement. This exclusive Southern band edition by Mark Rogers reintroduces Anderson_x001A_s enchanting work to new generations of audiences.

£82.95Journey of a Comet - Adrian B. Sims
Journey of a Comet, by Adrian B. Sims, was inspired by the mascot of the composer's high school alma mater. This relentless work depicts a comet racing through the sky. After traveling past obstacles ranging from planets to asteroids, the music breaks free from gravitational forces and truly soars. An energetic and inspirational composition! (3:40)

£139.00Himlen i min famn - Carola Häggkvist
"Heaven in My Arms" is a beautiful melody by Carola Hggkvist with lyrics by Erik Hillestad. This version is without vocal soloist so the melody is spread into many parts throughout the arrangement.(There are cue notes for oboe and bassoon, where they have soloistic elements.)To the conductor:Strive for good flow and phrasing. Feel free to be a bit creative with the phrasing. It invites for two-bar phrases in the melody, but perhaps 2/2/4 could also work nicely.Balance is very important. Often there is both melody and obligato/countermelody in addition to harmonic elements. Let each of them have their own layer in the balance.Staccato effects in clarinets and marimba are intended as pizzicato effects and must be phrased. Not too static. The tutti section at 72 can be energetic with intense lines. Maybe a little pi mosso as well. Think big and orchestral with good resonance and timbre.- Reid Gilje -

£122.50Festive Music
This work of festive atmosphere was written in 2000 for symphonic band, then the composer arranged it for symphony orchestra. In this piece, Lszl Dubrovay (*1943) parts with his special, hallmark concert band effects; rather, lively vibrations enriched with colliding seconds and distant overtones are brought to the foreground. The special sound is coloured by ornamental trills, appearing even in batches, and vibrating collisions in the high registers. The performance is rendered even more unique by the outer trumpets on both sides of the space. The trumpets and the flugelhorns can be divided into ten parts altogether, thus, the piece can be played by one ensemble or several bands together, as it is usual at the conclusion of large-scale festivals. This composition may be a great choice for festive concerts, since it is a solemn, innovative, and - by virtue of the free arrangement of the performing space - special work at the same time.

£420.99Symphony of Freedom - Thomas Doss
"All men are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and are to meet one another in a spirit of brotherhood." This article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights forms the basic idea behind this majestic Symphony of Freedom. In each of the three movements, the composer picks another angle on this universal theme of freedom. In the first 'Cry for Freedom' it's the Dalai Lama of which the composer is a great admirer. The second movement 'Dream of Freedom' takes the photograph of the deceased three-year-old refugee boy Ailan Kurdi on the beach at Bodrum as a basis. The finale 'Freedom Above All' refers, besides a Bruckner quote, to the music of Ludwig van Beethoven. This movement should be seen first and foremost as an affirmation of life, faith and hope for a better world.
