Premiered at Carnegie Hall, this minimalistic fanfare celebrates SpaceShipOne, the first privately manned spacecraft to exceed an altitude of 62 miles twice within two weeks. The three sections explore the launch to space, reaching the apogee (weightlessness), and the return to the atmosphere. Based on the shaped note melody Saints Bound for Heaven, Jubilee by James Curnow captures a feeling of joyful celebration through a series of unique and skillfully adapted variations. The opening strains are actually fragments ofthe first variation and occur before the main tune is introduced by low brass and woodwinds. The second variation features a euphonium solo and builds to a glorious climax with the full ensemble. Fortress - Concert March - Geir Sundbø
This concert march describes a town in the middle ages which is attacked by enemies. The citizens, helped by the fortress` soldiers suffer losses, but manage to win the battle.The march starts off with a fanfare, after which the main theme ispresented by the clarinets. This theme arrives in different variations separated by new fanfares, until the victory is celebrated and the main theme changes from minor to major mode.

Flight is the official march of the Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC. It was commissioned by the Air Force Band in 1984 and was premiered by the organization in November of that year. Their recording can be still heard as visitors enter the museum. A highly descriptive work, it incorporates the Pachelbel Canon by request in the opening section before the brass introduces a soaring theme. Sweeping reeds, active percussion and melodic brass are featured in preparation for a most electrifying 6/8 section. Brass fanfares of particular brilliance bring the work to its exciting conclusion.
