You'll find yourself humming this catchy march over and over! Beginning with a fanfare in the trumpets, horns, and saxophones, the low brass soon enters followed by the woodwinds playing a countermelody. Quintilian (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Smith, Robert W.
Quintilian was inspired by the work of the ancient Roman philosopher and educator of the same name, who set forth the original seven liberal arts as the ideal curriculum for educated citizens. After a stirring Roman style fanfare, a quintal theme in both harmony and rhythm propels the work through its development to a highly dramatic conclusion. This work deserves your close attention! La Quintessenza (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - De Meij, Johan
La Quintessenza is a musical approach of the quintessence, the heart of the matter. By focusing a five note motif in a number of variants, De Meij tries to get through to the essence of the musical matter. The core of the composition is a lyrical middle part (Arioso), preceded by an opening fanfare for brass (Introduzione) and a burlesque variant on the same motif (Capriccio). In the fourth part (Alla Marcia) this main motif is only used as an ambient signal, and in the Finale the opening theme is repeated so the musical walk-round is complete. Duration: 12.00

Dynamica (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Van der Roost, Jan
As the title suggests, this is a fiery and energetic, dynamic overture. Jan Van der Roost was commissioned to write the piece by the Japanese 'Band of the NEC-Tamagawa Plant' on the occasion of its 40th anniversary. From the first measure, the brass section sets the scene with rhythmical motives. Gradually we hear melodic and playful themes, often supported by (poly)rhythmic figures. A fermate in the trombone section prepares the way for the final theme, which virtuosically leads into a reprise of the first fanfare. The dynamic circle closes!Duration: 6:45
