Opening Music - Ben Haemhouts
Opening music is one of the first works for wind orchestra by Ben Haemhouts and was originally written under assignment from the Fanfare St. Pieters Kapelle Belgium. The slow mysterious introduction introduces the main theme that consists of the notes F, C, B-flat, F, a combination that was woven throughout the entire work. Then a stirring allegro part follows, with a melodious passage in the euphoniums. The end is a long-drawn-out resuming of the beginning that builds up to a large climax, still built on the same basic tones. This overture is a solemn openings work for every occasion.

Catawba Crossing - William G. Harbinson
Named for the beautiful Catawba River, this piece begins with a brilliant fanfare, revealing the principle motive upon which the entire composition is based. Shifting tonalities and colorful scoring are the hallmark of the opening section. This is followed by an expressive con moto section that provides the piece with dramatic contrast. Named for a volcano on the Hawaiian island of Maui, Haleakala is a boldly conceived and sumptuously scored tribute to the wonder of nature. Farewell was composed at the farewell of Fanfare Trompetterkorps Der Cavalerie in 1993. The work is based on 2 of the most famous tattoo signals in military music: "Reveille" and "Tattoo." Farewell opens festively with blasting trumpets and then continues with a somewhat melancholy melody based on the reveille theme. After interweaving all the signals and themes in the work's climax, the work ends quietly, with "in the distance" a lone trumpet playing the tattoo signal....
