As the title suggests, is a celebration of life's conquering obstacles, specifically of the composer's own personal battle against cancer. Written for the Upper Sandusky High School (Ohio) Wind Ensemble and with the thanks from the composer for the support and opportunity to compose this piece during a very difficult period of time, "Rejoissant!" opens with a slower dramatic fanfare in the brass and percussion. The simple but forceful melody is repeated in several forms throughout the piece, including the beautiful and melodic middle section. This exceptionally emotional and energetic composition is suitable for all concerts and especially festival performances. Duration: 6.00

Shifting tonalities and colorful scoring are the hallmark of the opening section. This is followed by an expressive con moto section that provides the piece with dramatic contrast. Once the opening theme returns, Catawba Crossing develops into a rousing march in 6/8 time, followed by a return to the opening material, bringing the piece to an exciting conclusion. Richard Strauss' Wiener Fanfare, the shorter version ofFestmusik der Stadt Wien - a piece originally written for ten trumpets, seven trombones, two tubas, and timpani - was the basis ofthis arrangement for concert band by Franco Cesarini. Strauss completed the "Festmusik" on 14 January 1943 after having previously received the "Beethoven Prize" in 1942. He dedicated the piece to the City Council of Vienna as a sign of his gratitude. Strauss conducted the premiere of this work in the Festival Hall of Vienna City Town Hallon 9th April 1943.An arrangement that highlights the characteristics of Franco Cesarini's writing.
