Joyride - Otto M. Schwarz
"Joyride" was composed on behalf of the city of Landeck in Austria to embody the spirit of adventure, flourishing development, and a promising future. It not only describes economic progress but also the cultural richness of a modern city of the future. The composition opens with a majestic fanfare seamlessly transitioning into a cheerful allegro in 7/8 time signature. Following a section steadily gaining momentum, a tranquil middle passage ensues, immersing the piece in a contemplative mood. The reprise reintegrates the opening motifs in varied forms. Joyride" provides an opportunity for all instrumental groups to showcase their abilities in the composer's characteristic musical language.

Bella Ciao - Manu Pilas
Bella Ciao is an Italian battle song, which became popular in Italy during World War II among partisans resisting fascism and national socialism. The song became a global resistance song against oppressive powers. In 2018, the song became known again through the Spanish Netflix series La Casa de Papel, in which the song was used multiple times. Jan van Kraeydonck wrote a skillful arrangement for concert band, fanfare and brass band.

Majesty - Thierry Deleruyelle
Majesty is a powerful and spectacular overture. Right from the start, the brass open the work brilliantly before making way for a majestic hymn mostly played by the woodwind. The end of the piece repeats the opening fanfare as a monumental finale in the style of an American symphonic march. This work was commissioned by the Bourbourg Wind Orchestra (France), conducted by Claude Deconinck, on the occasion of its 230th anniversary. This piece was premiered by the commissioning orchestra on 19 November 2022, just two months after the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Naturally, this work is dedicated to her.

Festmusik der Stadt Wien - Richard Strauss
Richard Strauss' Wiener Fanfare, the shorter version ofFestmusik der Stadt Wien - a piece originally written for ten trumpets, seven trombones, two tubas, and timpani - was the basis ofthis arrangement for concert band by Franco Cesarini. Strauss completed the "Festmusik" on 14 January 1943 after having previously received the "Beethoven Prize" in 1942. He dedicated the piece to the City Council of Vienna as a sign of his gratitude. Strauss conducted the premiere of this work in the Festival Hall of Vienna City Town Hallon 9th April 1943.An arrangement that highlights the characteristics of Franco Cesarini's writing.

Carpe Diem - Danny Choi
Carpe Diem was written for the Argyle Secondary School in Vancouver and premiered at the final senior band concert of 2016, with the composer conducting his peers. The work is intended to have fun parts for all of the band to play. From loud, brassy trombone parts to a triumphant fanfare of trumpets; from wind runs to percussion swells, the piece is very satisfying to perform. With the triumphant nature of the piece, the school's motto, Carpe Diem, was chosen as its title.

Kiskiminetas (To Make Daylight) - Paul Murtha
Kiskiminetas is a Native American word that means to make daylight and was likely a command given to break camp and continue the journey. Paul Murtha's escriptive work for young players opens with a noble fanfare suggesting the break of day. A lyric section follows depicting scenic vistas along the path, and finally an exuberant adventure theme celebrates the conclusion of the journey. Nicely paced with plenty of variety.
