About the new series of 10 "Musical Postcards" for wind band, Dirk says the following: "Composing is a commitment; it is my life's mission. For me composing means creating a vacuum around myself and allowing myself to be submerged by impressions. It is a continual struggle between fantasy and reality, between dream and reality. Out of chaos of sounds and emotions I try to order my thoughts by juggling shreds of melodies, original chords, striking sound colours and alternating rhythms. Melody, harmony, rhythm and sound colours are finally balanced to generate a harmonious universe. Fuegos del Alma (Fires of the Soul) - Ferrer Ferran

Its facilities are the largest in Europe and its current president is Caballer Vicente Ramirez, grandson of the founder and third generation. "Fires of Soul" evokes the spirit fireworks, describing the beauty of these fires in all its phases. The Symphonic Overture serve for concert performance or for use accompanying fireworks, and that predominates in a musical composition contrasts of brilliance to get excite the viewer. The ups of "tension" and downs and its spectacular are the basis of this work, not forgetting the lovely sweetness that makes the "lights" fires penetrate our emotional feeling. A Caballer Vicente Ramirez, President of the famed "Pyrotechnics Caballer" for having managed to "dream" with his pyrotechnic art, offering Happiness Humanity. Work composed at the request of the Symphonic Band "Musical Union of Lliria" with affection and pride of all of them and especially the author. This composition was premiered on September 6, 2014, in the auditorium of the Musical Union of Liria (Valencia, Spain) by the "Musical Union of Lliria", leading the author.

Composer Robert Spittal was moved to complete this work in response to the Newtown, Connecticut tragedy in 2012, and serves as a reflection of our complicated feelings of grief and loss. The music is simple and direct, and meant as a hopeful work for young players. Moved by a metaphor describing the victims as "twenty-six new diamonds in the sky", the title is a reference to the stars which we look upward to for inspiration, for hope, and to dream of better things to come.

The large creative output of the Danish composer Carl Nielsen (1865 - 1931) contains six symphonies, chamber music, vocal works and music for the theatre: two operas (Saul & David and Maskerade) and stage music for sixteen different plays. The stage music for Aladdin was written at the request of Johannes Nielsen, the director of the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen. This production was based on the drama Aladdin (1805) by the Danish author Adam Oehlenschlger. Already before the premiere at the Royal Theatre, Carl Nielsen had adapted some of the music for the concert hall: he conducted the first performance of six of the seven movements of the concert suite on February6th, 1919. Johan de Meij's transcription for symphonic band contains the following movements: I Oriental Festival March II Aladdin's Dream / Dance of the Morning Mist III African Negro Dance
