Algemiz - Ferrer Ferran
Algemesi is a town situated on the banks of the river Sucron, in the south of Valencia in Spain. Algemiz by Ferrer Ferran was inspired by two historical events connected with the town. When the Iberian peninsula was under the rule of the Romans a bloody battle took place between the armies of the generals Pompey and Sertorius known as The Battle of Sucron. Much later in the 13th century, Don Jaime 1, king of Aragon who had been defeated by the Maures d'Almenara, decided to lead an expedition to Sucron to evaluate the resistance of the Arab forces and conquer Alegmesi. This story of this expedition is told in The Dance of the Conquerors.

Die Lustigen Dorfschmiede - Julius Fucik
Reading the title of this piece, namely "The Happy Village Smiths" it rather suggests a character piece than a zestful march. However, the saying "Don't let yourself be fooled" also applies in this instance, as "The Happy Village Smiths" belong to Fuc k's most popular marches. In an article that appeared in a Styrian local paper in the 1930s, Christine Fuc k speaks about common vacations with her husband in Gleisdorf. On the occasion of a walk in the vicinity of that city the couple came past a blacksmith's shop. The rhythm of the two blacksmiths hammering away on the anvil allegedly inspired Fuc k to compose this piece. Since the march goes back to the year 1908, and Christine and Fuc k's friendship started - not without frictions - only one year before that date, there are doubts concerning the validity of the story, although this report constitutes the only reference on the birth of this march.

£75.00Sonata - Derek Bourgeois
This work, composed in 1998, was commissioned by the American trombonist Don Lucas as a work for trombone and piano and first performed by him in Birmingham on 19th May 2000. Subsequently, I arranged the music for both solo trombone and brass band and solo trombone and wind band so that it now exists in three formats. The first movement, in B flat major, is brisk and energetic, and is cast in sonata form. The second subject is gentler and more lyrical. The second movement, a scherzo in C major, is the most complex of the four. Basically the structure is a rond. For a long time the music remains in the opening 5/8 time until a new theme introduces more broken rhythms in a more jazzy idiom. After a return of the opening theme the following episode is more tonally ambiguous. Finally, the main theme returns to round off the movement. The third movement, a lyrical adagio, is really one long extended melodic flow. The harmonies are lush and the textures simple and direct. The tonal center is A minor, but the music meanders through so many keys, that this key centre is heavily disguised. The finale is a fiery affair. G minor is really its home key, but throughout the movement the music moves about a lot and the second subject is first heard in A flat minor. The movement's underlying sonata structure is masked not only by its loose tonality but also by its frequently changing time signatures. Like the first movement the second subject is more lyrical in nature and for a while it seems that the music will end peacefully, but a final flurry heralds a triple forte unison on the home note of the first movement - B flat. £123.95Fanfare on Amazing Grace - Adolfus Hailstork
Originally composed for solo organ, Hailstork's fanfare is a 3-minute explosion of joyous sound inspired by the Baroque-era tradition of Chorale Preludes. As in Bach's organ preludes, the familiar hymn's phrases broadly emerge from ornate counterpoint, here in the form of brass fanfares. The result is exhilarating! Also scored by Hailstork for chamber ensemble and for orchestra, FANFARE ON AMAZING GRACE was transcribed for concert band in January 2021 by MGySgt Don Patterson, staff arranger for "The President's Own" United States Military Band, for that ensemble's worldwide broadcast performance at the 2021 Presidential Inauguration.

£94.99Bad - Michael Jackson
Five years after the release of the monster album Thriller, which sold a record-breaking 105 million copies worldwide up to this date, this second single from the album Bad, released in 1987, also peaked at number one on the Billboard chart. This song was performed during Michael's first solo world tour that started from Japan (Korakuen Stadium) in September 1987. The short film directed by Martin Scorsese also generated great publicity. In particular, the animated group dance scene in the subway made a huge impact on the viewers and distinguished Michael's image. As the video depicts, "bad" in this song's lyrics indicate the kicking, cool unruly living on thestreets. As the opening number, Bad strikes out a course of slight-but-right edginess with its dynamically groovy arrangement that underscores the electric funk in the original tune. Don't miss the last punch line: Who's bad?
