£76.80Y Ahora - la Conga! - Jef Penders
Jef Penders (1928), the 'Valencian Dutchman', had already enriched the lighter original band repertoire with several fine and creative dance melodies such as a cha-cha-cha, a charleston, a reggae and a waltz. This time, or rather 'today' (ahora), the Spanish sunny climate inspired him to compose this lively and inspiring conga. Originally the conga was a semiritual dance of the Antilles which also soon spread in the New-Orleans area. We bet it will give you the heebie-jeebies.

£114.99Conga del Fuego Nuevo (Concert Band - Parts only) - Marquez, Arturo - Nickel, Oliver
Score available separately.Following on the success of Arturo Marquez's Danzon No.2 adapted for band, Oliver Nickel's transcription of Conga del Fuego Nuevo (Conga of New Fire) gives an added kick to the concert band repertoire. In contrast to the elegant, sinuous Danzon, Conga is an up-tempo, celebratory piece, bright and catchy, with the percussion section providing the signature kick at the end of the conga pattern. Marquez slows things down in the middle section to spotlight the 1st trumpet in a melody that recalls the mariachi tradition. The alto saxes pick it up and relax into a ritard, only to be interrupted by the return of the opening material. The piece ends in fiery fashion.Duration: 5:00

£61.00Clarinet Samba - Rodney Parker
It's Carnival Time for the Clarinets! Let your whole clarinet section enjoy this rhythmic Samba. The accompaniment does not need to be too heavy so maybe some of the band could play extra Latin American percussion instruments such as Claves, Cabasa and Conga Drums. You may even get some members of the audience to help! The clarinets are written in their best registers and should be the dominant part at all times particularly in the legato section after Bar 20.
