Southend Celebration (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Sparke, Philip
The work opens with a stern fanfare in bare fifths, which leads to a cantabile theme introduced by alto saxophone. This builds to a climax and reintroduces the fanfare, which slowly evolves into the subsequent vivo. A perky tune emerges on flute, saxophone and trumpet, which, after a short bridge passage, leads to a contrasting melody on low clarinets and saxophones. After some development a true 'second subject' appears for the whole band. A recapitulation leads briefly back to the opening fanfare before the vivo returns to close the work in celebratory mood.Duration: 8:30

Namase Rhapsody (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Van der Roost, Jan
Namase Rhapsody differs in several respects from most other concert works by Jan Van der Roost, with its impressive twists and turns and musical allusions to the work of John Adams. A first, minimalist movement, is followed by a lyrical and expressive second movement for various soloists in different ranges. The third movement sees a stark change of mood with a rigid metrical figure before a powerful and energetic close.Duration: 8:45

Ave Maria (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Memley, Kevin A. - Hazzard, Preston
Originally a composition for chorus by Kevin A. Memley, this adaptation by Preston Hazzard makes expert use of the various tone colours available for band. Cascading waterfall effects are represented in the mallet percussion and woodwinds, while an underlying rhythmic texture provides a flowing background for the lyric melody. Sa Musica (Vocal Sheet - Pack of 25) - De Haan, Jacob
Sa Musica, Our Music, is the music from Mallorca, an island with a long and difficult past. The work tells of the Greeks, who once erected a temple on the island; of the Romans who occupied the island; and of traditional processions that continue to take place. A Spanish fiesta and a lyrical section, which is inspired by a famous pirate poem, bring this work to a close with Spanish flair. This theme can also be sung in the original Spanish with one or more singers or choir.Duration: 6.30
