£202.99Missa Tornacum - André Waignein
Flicien Doyen, the President of the Tornacum Royal Choir Circle of Tournai (Belgium) and a close friend of the composer commissioned this Mass. Missa Tornacum was originally composed for mixed choir and organ, gave a memorable performance of thepiece in the Chartres Cathedral in France.Although it does not include the Credo, the work is composed according to the traditional structure of a Mass in five parts : Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus, Agnus Dei, and Ite missa est. En the first two parts, adialogue is created between the choir and the band. It is followed by the Sanctus cycle ("Sanctus" - "Hosanna" - "Benedictus"), which is remarkable for the contrasts between the tone colorscharacterizing each of its three parts. The fourth part,Agnus Dei, takes on a tone of serene intimacy. A free counterpoint draws this section to a close by fading into an almost imperceptible quietness. Ite missa est begins with a series of imitations, which develop into a majestic and cheerful passagemarking the end of the Mass. Choir parts are available separately.

£174.10Norge i rdt, hvitt og bltt - Lars-Erik Larsson
Norge i rdt, hvitt og bltt ("Norway in Red, White and Blue") was commissioned by the Oslo Fagott Choir (yes, that is indeed a gay men's choir) for a concert with The Staff Band of the Armed Forces in 2015. I was given artistic licence to write a more modern and somewhat 'eclectic' arrangement for this originally Swedish melody written by Lars-Erik Larsson, which became something of a national liberation anthem when Nazi occupation ended in May 1945 - then with new lyrics by Finn B, Bias Bernhoft and Arild Feldborg.After the premiere in Oslo, and a music video with Oslo Fagott Choir and The Staff Band, broadcasted by Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) on Constitution Day during coronavirus lockdown in 2020, I was approached by many to write an instrumental version of the arrangement for concert band. £149.40Norwegian Dance No. 2 - Alfred Evensen
Alfred Evensen (1883 - 1942) was born in Troms, but moved to Harstad 16 years old to start as a student at The Military School of Music. He was director and chief of the military band in 1918, and worked there for 12 years. In 1930 he was appointedto conductor of the military band in Bergen, and worked there until he was appointed to take over from Johannes Hanssen (Valdres march) as manager and conductor of the military band in Oslo in 1934.With this band he participated in a majorinternational military music collection in Paris in 1935 With a great success. In addition to his work in military music, he was a highly respected conductor of choir and composed, in additionto his compositions for bands, many songs for choir.He died in Oslo, after he was arrested because of his resistance against the German occupation. At his own request he was buried in Harstad, and there is also a statue of him.Norwegian Dance No. 1 and No. 2 dates from 1911 and 1912respectively. They are composed in the style of Grieg's Norwegian Dances, Op. 35, but, unlike Grieg, Evensen has used his own themes for the compositions.

"Sle Jolekveld" was arranged for Kongelige Norske Marines Musikkorps (The Royal Norwegian Navy Band) for their CD-recording "Julestemning"(2009) featuring Solveig Kringlebotn as soprano soloist and the choir of Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Ingar Bergby.The arrangement works very well for a collaborative concert for band and SATB choir and possible soprano soloist. However it will also work well also for concert band alone.

This work was commissioned by the Concordia wind band and the cho male choir, based in Mige (Valais, Switzerland), to mark their respective centenaries. The piece is a sanguine sounding work entirely based upon variations in several keys of a main hymn. This creates a festive and 'sprituoso' atmosphere throughout this impressive, highly colourful and energetic work. This work was commissioned by the Concordia wind band and the cho male choir, based in Mige (Valais, Switzerland), to mark their respective centenaries. Raise Your Voice In Song - Claude T. Smith
One of Claude T. Smith's last completed works, "Raise Your Voice in Song" was commissioned by the Nebraska Music Educators Association for the 50th Anniversary on NMEA! It was written for the 1986 All-State Band, Choir and Orchestra for their combined performance on November 22, 1986 in Hastings, NE. This majestic work lends itself as a finale, for band alone, or a combined performance with string orchestra and/or choir (available separately). There are two sets of lyrics (secular and Christmas).

This march was composed during a Summer course, organized in the Youth Hostel 'Schnburg' on the occasion of the anniversary of the Tuba-player Erich Keller. It was also premiered over there, high in the mountains. It was sung (in four parts) by all the participants. This work can be played by a band, sung by a choir, or performed by the combination of both band and choir.

With Sweet Jubilation - James Curnow
Explore different settings of the Medieval Latin carol "In Dulci Jubilo" via this solid arrangement by James Curnow. Opening with an exquisite "Brass Choir" section a la Michael Praetorius (1571-1621) and progressing through a "Woodwind Choir" section in the later J.S.Bach style, WITH SWEET JUBILATION is wonderful "style study" material. The grace of the early masters and the clearly focused unifying concept of the arrangement by James Curnow combine to make this addition to the Curnow Music Press "Splendor of Christmas Series" a wonderful holiday experience for the young band.

Music: Franz Krenn, Text: Ferry Krauss, Arrangement: Franz WatzFranz Krenn (1816 - 1897) was an organist, a conductor and later also teacher at the Conservatory of music of the 'Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde' in Vienna. The Graduale is part of the Roman Catholic liturgy: the vocal soloist sings a psalm or part of a psalm and the audience answers by singing the chorus 'Responsorium' (a kind of answer). The pastoral text is clearly related to the Christmas story. Krenn has written this piece for one male voice, choir and string accompaniment. This version can be performed with singers and orchestra, without singing or with a mixed instrumentation. The solo male voice can also be performed by a tenor instrument. The four-part score for mixed choir has been arranged for wind ensemble (at least a quartet). The original score for strings has been arranged for large wind orchestra, but thanks to the cue notes the piece can also be performed by smaller ensembles in a most satisfactory way. The numerous instrumentation possibilities are clearly indicated in the instrumentation list and range from a wind quartet to a full band. The percussion parts are 'ad libitum'.
