Musica Festiva - Menno Bosgra
This 3-part work begins with a martial and heroic theme where the brass and drums play an important role. A second melodic theme contrasts with the first, although elements of the first theme remain clearly present and they in turn provide a link to the second, calmer movement which is introduced with a splendid solo on the saxophone. You can hear fragments of the first part here too.In the third part, the small drum begins to play the background theme and is followed by a grand group of brass instruments playing a heavy concert march which, after an increase of tempo, gradually ends in a grand finale which refers once again to the initial theme.

Simi Jadech - Willy Fransen
Simi Jadech is Hebrew for "give me your hand". This work was commissioned by the royal wind band "De Heidegalm Heusden- Berkenbos", Belgium. The composer based his composition on a Jewish folk song of the same name which is characterised by the typical Klezmer style. This is an excellent work, suitable for competitions or concerts. It has sufficient instrumentation throughout and can therefore be performed by most orchestras.

With this festive overture, which can also be played as a concert work, we introduce this young Japanese composer for the first time. He is already a real superstar in Japan, and with this piece, we get a little peek at why this is so. 10W-60 is the name of an engine oil that is entirely synthetic, has a very long life and is used mainly in vehicles from which high performance is required. In this way the composer makes the link with speed and energy, two important elements that can also be found in this three-part composition. Naoya Wada dedicated this piece to the famous Japanese trumpet-player Kazuki Hayasaka, and incorporated elements of boogie, Gershwin and rock.
