I made this modern, more easily readable version of Bonelli's classic 1600 Toccata for flexible wind ensemble with optional percussion, so that as few as 8 players up to full symphonic band could play in this style. Nne na Tatu (Swahili for "Four on Three") is inspired by the music of sub-Saharan Africa and other world music traditions. Like many of those traditions, Nne na Tatu is driven by relentless percussion and rhythmic-focused development. A bold, festive theme, introduced in the brass, recurs throughout and grounds the piece amidst a series of unpredictable detours - a Scottish-inspired dance in the winds, a marimba melody reminiscent of the music of the Andes - before returning in a final triumphant fanfare.

Febesa - Filip Ceunen
The title of this work, Febesa, refers to the four notes it is based on: F, E, Bflat (BES in Dutch) and A. At the beginning of the work, the sound of these notes creates a mysterious, extraordinary atmosphere. The work slowly builds from the low brass as the thematic torch is handed to the woodwind section and this leads into a grand tutti. In a tonal and refreshing allegro, the febesa-theme now has a more harmonic role. After this passage, the symmetric form of the work brings us back to the mysterious atmosphere of the introduction, with solos for euphonium, oboe and flute.

Entrance Of The Queen - Teo Aparicio-Barberán
This short but brilliant work was written to honour the crowning of the Spanish queen. The elegant march of this piece depicts how the queen arrives slowly. The queen is subsequently crowned and this can be heard in the heavy chords of the brass instruments. The spectacular ending of this work is the proverbial cherry on the cake of this ceremony.

In Onore Di - Wouter Lenaerts
The magnificent hymn was written for the "Royal Brass Band St. Katarina and Peter Benoit" and is dedicated to their chairman, Paul van Montfort on the occasion of his 30th anniversary as chairman of the association. A splendid fanfare is followed by an expansive and solemn melody which is played by different groups. A refreshing trio is followed by a triumphant ending.

Fanfare No. 1 (1995) In the summer of 1995 before his departure to the United States, a request from his high school band friends for a good concert opener sparked 19 year old Hokoyama to write his very first wind band composition.To capture the excitement of the rising curtain, the piece begins with magnificent brass ascending in 4th and 5th intervals. This is followed by the energetic entrance of the full ensemble like celebratory cannon fire. The following melody has many notes, yet is still simple. Do not overestimate it, just perform with driving momentum.In the slower middle section, utilize an instinctive vision of a scorching midsummer sun shimmering on the horizon. (Likely this shimmering sunset image was scored unconsciously, being composed in midsummer. A more applicable mood might be "Indian sunset". Perhaps this Indian style came from a capricious feeling of youthfulness.)The bright tempo and melody return for the last section. The climactic volley of musical display is like explosive fireworks as the last sounds echo throughout the concert hall.The composer wishes for performers to play from their hearts and not be limited by an analytic approach to the score-absolute accuracy is not required. Above all, the deepest pleasure for the composer is to know that teachers and students share the joy of music making with the intention of sharing it with others all over the world.With deepest gratitude, thank you for performing this work.
