£154.99Hidamari - Jan Van der Roost
Edelweiss Brass Orchestra is a Japanese concert band based in the heart of Tokyo, Japan. Founded in 1978, the ensemble has grown from musical strength to strength and in 2018 they commissioned a new work with Jan Van der Roost for their 40th anniversary concert. The title Hidamari could loosely be translated as "In the Sunshine". A short quote from the famous musical The Sound of Music (you got it, 'Edelweiss'!) is a subtle nod to the name of the commissioning ensemble. Hidamari reflects the idea that EBO is like a home for all musicians: together, they are one big family.

Music Shall Live - James Curnow
Perfect for a combined Choral/Band concert as an opener, closer or anywhere in between. This medley of familiar tunes is tied together by the recurring concept that MUSIC SHALL LIVE. A swingin' WADE IN THE WATER, a soulful NOBODY KNOWS THE TROUBLE I'VE SEEN, and an inspiring BATTLE HYMN OF THE REPUBLIC make it a crowd pleaser. The unison choral part makes sure the chorus can come through loud and clear and the performance can be prepared without a great deal of combined rehearsal time. Big, bold and powerful! (String parts and Beginning Band (simplified) parts are also available for large, All-City Band, Orchestra and Chorus performances)

Wingin' It! - Gilbert Tinner
Wingin' It! is an entertaining concert piece. It makesespecially high demands on the rhythmic qualities ofthe band and requires exact articulation and phrasingaccording to the composer's instructions. After abrilliant opening, a catchy theme crystallizes whileall sections take turns to come to the forefront.Based on this theme, a swing in the classic big bandstyle, a peaceful Bossa (in which the woodwindsdominate) and a section with typical rock and funkrhythms follow. The two-step feeling closes thecircle to lead to the grand finale. This compositionfeatures all the essential elements of a contest pieceand provides a particular challenge in the understandingand execution ofpopular styles. It alsooffers all the facets that make a work attractive forthe audience as well as the musicians.

The Red Planet
The Red Planet is an original concert piece in 5/4 time for a band with at least one year's training. Joseph Compello's intriguing new work depicts the planet Mars in 5/4 time, giving the work an uneven, exciting feel. The opening section is bold and aggressive, and this piece explores a variety of moods throughout its duration. This, along with the lyrical pseudo sci-fi sound, will make The Red Planet a big hit with students. As a bonus, Compello included a fugato section to help introduce students to contrapuntal music.

£174.10Sing Sang Sung - Gordon Goodwin
"Sing Sang Sung" is inspired by "Sing Sing Sing" from the legendary 1938 Carnegie Hall Concert by Benny Goodman & His Orchestra. The famous "Jungle Groove" presented by drummer Gene Krupa and the opening riff from the 1938 performance is retained in this brilliant, swinging tune composed by Gordon Goodmin. The style changes from swing to "jungle groove" (with extensive use of tom-toms), is essential for both these tunes. The best sound recording of "Sing Sang Sung" is "Swingin' For the Fences" by Gordon Goodwin Big Phat Band released in 2000. But, you should also listen to the original "Sing Sing Sing" from the 1938 Benny Goodman recording as well!

The Pageant of London - Frank Bridge
Frank Bridge was one of the finest English composers of the first half of the 20th century. The Pageant of London is his only work for wind band, comprising of two marches, one scored from Bridge's best known organ piece and including the chimes of Big Ben, plus three short renaissance pastiche items, one arranged from Playford (later used by Peter Warlock in Capriol Suite). The music is tuneful, approachable and, in the words of wind band 'legend' Timothy Reynish makes a fine alternative to Holst's two suites, which were composed around the same time. Reynish has introduced this work to concert bands right across the world. It has been performed in USA and the Far East, recorded by the celebrated Kosei Wind Orchestra of Japan and also by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales in the Chandos edition of Bridge Orchestral Music.

£119.00Traveler
David Maslanka's Traveler, for Symphonic Wind ensemble, was commissioned in 2003 by the University of Texas at Arlington Band Alumni Association, the Delta Sigma chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi and the Gamma Nu Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma, in honor of the career contributions of Ray C. Lichtenwalter, retiring Director of bands at UT Arlington. Maslanka writes, "Ray has been a close friend and champion of my music for many years, and it was a great pleasure for me to write this piece for his final concert. The idea for Traveler came from the feeling of a big life movement as I contemplated my friend's retirement." Carl Fischer Music is excited to offer this beautifully contemplative piece in a large score format.

£49.50Let There Be Peace On Earth
A beautiful arrangement of one of the most memorable melodies of all time that makes a wonderful concert piece for any middle school band. Starts out quietly featuring the woodwind section (and optional choir or audience sing-a-long) and then the brass takes over and builds to a big full sound. Great piece to combine choir and band as the finale of your concert. A great message in a great song! Inspiring and impressive!
