Bert Appermont composed the music for the first ever open-air musical, the Seed of Satan, which was shown for the first time in August 2002, in Kruibeke, Belgium. This gigantic spectacle which evolves around witchcraft at the beginning of the 17th century, attracted more than 10,000 spectators in just a few weeks. Bert Appermont subsequently arranged a suite of the highlights from the musical which he has called Saga Candida.

Cantiphonia - Concerto For Euphonium - Bert Appermont
This spectacular three-part concerto (Contrasti, Romanza and Fugato) for euphonium and grand brass-band orchestra by Bert Appermont was composed upon request by the Swiss euphonium virtuoso Ueli Kipfer who created it in November 2004 with the Schweizer Armee Spiel conducted by Jan Cober. The composer was inspired more by its mood than the analysis of works by Mahler and Rachmaninov. This concerto, which is quite demanding for the soloist and a challenge for the orchestra, is probably one of the most innovative works by Bert Appermont to date. Saga Maligna - Bert Appermont
"Zaad van Satan", an open-air musical composed by Bert Appermont, attracted an audience of almost 10,000 in 2000. Bert Appermont extracted a highly successful first suite entitled "Saga Candida". Its sequel, "Saga Maligna" is a colourful and varied composition which appeals strongly to the imagination. Bert Appermont composed Song for Sakiko during a stay in the cosmopolitan metropolis of Tokyo. "Sakiko" roughly translated means "flower child" and is associated with a dreamy, poetic atmosphere. Appermont used theseassociations as a starting point while composing. Song for Sakiko starts with a very lyrical theme based on a minor third that forms the basis for the entire work. A second theme builds up to the grand finale, which repeats the theme, but in amajor key and the music slowly fades away, like ripples on a pond, as both themes can be heard dissipating into nothingness.

The attacks in Brussels on 22 March 2016 created a shockwave throughout Belgium and the rest of the world. Equally, the attacks in Paris and Nice led to great public indignation, fear and disbelief.Bert Appermont's intention was to voice certain emotions that these acts of terror have caused: particularly fear, grief, anger, and helplessness. He uses the French children's song Au Clair de la Lune as a connecting thread throughout the work.

The Celtic poem The Voyage of Bran was the inspiration for this fantasy work by Bert Appermont. The subject of this composition is Febal, who - together with his companions - travels to the "otherworld", also known asthe Island of the Blessed, where he finds nothing but sun and prosperity. The sections, called Isle of Joy, Land of the Women and The Feast intermingle with Song of the Otherworld, which acts as a sort of leitmotif.
