Primavera was commissioned for the 40th Anniversary of Kofu Community Band and premiered in spring of 2008. The commissioning request was that the work would reflect both the beautiful nature of Yamanashi Prefecture and bonds the band shared through four decades of history.I always visit rehearsals and meet band members when accepting a commission so that the piece will be relevant and meaningful to the band. When I visited Kofu Community Band they were rehearsing one of my works, Hymn to the Sun - With the Beat of Mother Earth, and the members played with such emotion from bottom of their hearts that I was deeply moved. I shared a story of the work's inspiration, and some started to cry. I was impressed with how sincere and bright those performers in Kofu Community Band were. Mr. Fujio Ando, associate leader of the band, with a big smile told me that he wished their new work would be widely enjoyed and appreciated by many music lovers.(Satoshi Yagisawa)

It was this image that inspired Flying Colors.Famed bandmaster Arthur Delamont always programmed a march in his concerts, and the hallmark of his band was their red capes. The work begins very softly with a distant snare drum beat. The trumpets enter quietly with the melody,and with each new melodic entry the music grows and intensifies to a roaring finish. This is a fresh new take on a march, and is sure to please players and audiences alike! Seid (pronounced sayed was a divination ceremony practised by the Vikings which could be used to reveal knowledge of the future. During the ceremony, woman sang incantations and the Seeress (Vlva) passed into a kind of trance. In other arctic cultures similar ceremonies took place during which the Medicine man (Sage), or Shaman, would beat a drum covered with magic runes, and he too would pass into a trance, reaching the deepest part of his own sub-consciousness - a journey beyond time and space... "Seid" was commissioned by The Norwegian Band Federation and European Brass Band Assosiation for the European Brass Band Championship in 1996. The version for Concert Bandwas commissioned by Frode Amundsen and Borge Musikkorps in 2018. Supported by NOPA (Norwegian Society of Composers and Lyricists)

The little known English group Christie became famous overnight in 1970 when they released the record Yellow River. Yellow River is a Vietnam era song (a protest against the Vietnam War) and describes the wish of a soldier at the front to return home. Band leader, singer and composer Jeff Christie initially wrote the song for The Tremoloes, but as the group were uncertain about it he decided to record it himself.
