DANCING 'ROUND THE NURSERY (Programme Concert Band) - Wiffin, Rob

In 2006 Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II held a massive garden party in the grounds of Buckingham Palace bringing children from across the UK face to face with music and characters from British literature. The participants were greeted at the Palace by the Band of Her Majesty's Welsh Guards playing a splendid selection of children's songs. The success led to a recording by the Welsh Guards Band, and we are now delighted to publish this celebration of youthful music.

Last Ride Of The Pony Express

From April 1860 to October 1861, the Pony Express was the fastest way to get a message across the Western half of the US. Now David Shaffer's exciting new composition may well be the fastest way you can get your band excited about their next concert or contest performance! It's a colorful and invigorating work which captures the spirit of these great pioneers and all sections of the band get a chance to lead the way. Includes exciting percussion parts which are all quite playable and yet give the music character and energy! EXTREMELY NICE!

The Shopping Centre Wind Band Set (Score & Parts)

Many people when asked the question 'Do you have any hobbies?' will answer 'Shopping' (even though the female part of the population may be more interested in this than the male one). Of course it is great fun to walk about in a Shopping Mall, browsing in various small shops, looking for things you have always wanted to possess. This was what William Vean was doing one day when he came across the idea to write a composition in which several shops could try to sell their wares (and this idea didn't cost him a penny). First, the audience are taken to a 'Jeans store', then a 'Phone shop' is visited, after which a visit is made to a 'Perfumery'. The fourth part depicts a profession which is practised in several premises, namely that of shoplifter. In the fifth part there is room for a bite to eat at a Chinese restaurant, and finally after a visit to the hairdresser's it's time to go home. 10:00

Walking the Planks (Concert Band - Score and Parts)

Featuring the keyboard percussion section, "Walking The Planks" will be an invaluable addition to your next beginning band concert. Using a nautical theme, Robert W. Smith has created this work to reinforce musical concepts and highlight this crucial area of skill development for all percussionists. Using only six notes, the melody will flow seamlessly across the planks while providing a delightful musical experience for all. The optional accelerando provides an added incentive to the percussion section leading to a very exciting conclusion. Just imagine...they will be stars using keyboard instruments! What a great message to send in this early part of their band experience!

Quest of the Magi - Brian Beck

The Quest of the Magi was one of the working titles for John Henry Hopkins Jr.'s famous carol, "We Three Kings." Written in 1857 for a Christmas pageant in New York City, "We Three Kings" tells the tale of the Magis' journey to find a newly born king in a faraway land and the precious gifts they brought with them. This piece focuses more on the journey of "following yonder star." Traveling across many countries in the first century was a perilous task, full of danger, thievery, and possible death, not to mention these men were traveling with some of the most precious and expensive cargo one could possess. This piece chronicles the magi acquiring myrrh, frankincense, and gold for their journey. Each treasure is represented by its own motif and woven into Hopkins' original carol. (2:45)
