£139.99A Man's Destiny (Yn Ieren en Sinen) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - De Haan, Jan
A Man's Destiny has the Frisian line Yn Ieren en Sinen (with much conviction) as its subtitle. The work was commissioned by CMV Harmonie Sneek (based in Friesland, The Netherlands) to acknowledge their 95th anniversary. The composer based this work on the life of a former member of the band, who played flugelhorn in the ensemble until the age of 86. Their favourite piece of music, Canon by Thomas Tallis, provided a great deal of musical inspiration for this characteristic and versatile work in which the flugelhorn plays a significant role.Duration: 11.00

£59.00A Holiday Smash-Up (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - McBride, Jonathan
In "A Holiday Smash-Up," an eclectic take on familiar holiday melodies, the woodwinds insist on playing "Jingle Bells," while the brass remains resolute about playing "O Christmas Tree." The hilarity grows as each frustrated section begins lobbing random "decoy" Christmas songs into the mix. In the end the brass and the woodwinds both get their holiday wish by finding a way to play the two songs at the same time! Individual parts are consciously written to support student success in the short holiday rehearsal season, while the work itself is a musical holiday joke book, full of surprises and unexpected twists. Liven up your next holiday concert with the humor and joy of "A Holiday Smash-Up!" Duration: 2.15

£79.00The River and the Rock (The Tale of a City) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Shaffer, David
The River and the Rock depicts the rich history of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, settled in 1735. Each short movement paints a musical picture of the city's history, opening with "Beginnings," depicting a frontier that was settled very slowly as hostilities between England and France encouraged Indian bounty hunters to attack isolated garrisons in the region. "Patriots" suggests the city's call to arms throughout history. "Prosperity" visits the industrial revolution and the city's rapid growth at the turn of the 20th century. Movement IV and V, "Decline" and "Revival," offer a musical insight into the city's decline throughout the 20th century and rebirth in the 21st century. Exciting and emotional, "The River and the Rock" merges history and music into a setting that your students will enjoy preparing. Excellent selection for festivals and contests! Duration: 6.15

£159.99Tribute to a Maestro (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - De Haan, Jan
Tribute to a Maestro is an homage to Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683-1764), one of the most important French Baroque composers. Rameau was a hugely significant composer, organist, harpsichordist and music teacher: he also published several authoritative books on music theory. Jan de Haan based this tribute on a theme from Les Sauvages (The Savages), the fourth act of Rameau's ballet-opera, Les Indes Galantes (The Amorous Indies). The work begins with two variations, whereupon the striking theme can be heard. After a short intermezzo, four more variations follow, of which the last one is composed in Baroque style.Duration: 12.00

£53.50Shallow (from A Star is Born) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Murtha, Paul
From the movie A Star Is Born, here is an easy arrangement of the breakout hit by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. Using a nice variety of scoring textures this arrangement starts gently with a flute solo on the melody, followed by the horns and saxes, a brief trumpet solo, and finally the entire ensemble. Beautifully done for young players.

£118.99A Centennial Adventure (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Doss, Thomas
100 Years of the Republic of Austria should be an occasion to reflect on the value of freedom and democracy, precious treasures that don't grow on trees but which have to be fought for again and again. The imperial anthem composed by Franz Josef Haydn, which to this day, survives as the German national anthem, has played a very special role in the story of Austria. It seems that Haydn was inspired by a Croatian folksong. It was sung in Burgenland Croatian areas in various versions under the title Atal se jesem (I am standing). The composer wrote this piece as a tribute to all people standing up for democracy in the name of mankind. A festive and impressive piece for celebrational events alike! Duration: 6.45

£200.00A Sousa Celebration (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Sousa, John Philip - Noble, Paul
A Sousa Celebration is the arranger's collection of excerpts from several of Sousa's interesting marches, creating a patriotic presentation of greater length than the typical march. This selection includes a variety of content, offering a showpiece to several sections of the band: Hail to the Spirit of Liberty, composed for the Paris Exposition of 1900, for the unveiling of the Lafayette Monument on July 4; Yorktown Centennial (1881), written to commemorate the hundredth anniversary of the last important battle of the Revolutionary War: the surrender at Yorktown; Mother Hubbard March (1885), based on nursery rhymes; "Three Blind Mice," "Thus the Farmer Sows His Seed," "Old Mother Hubbard," "Hey Diddle Diddle," "Little Redbird in the Tree," "London Bridge is Falling Down," "Scotland the Brave," and "The Minstrel Boy." The celebration concludes with excerpts from Sousa's most celebrated march, The Stars and Stripes Forever.
