Festa Paesana Wind Band Set (Score & Parts)
Lunteren, a village on the Veluwe (a wooded region in the Netherlands), sets the scene annually for a village festival dominated by folklore. Festa Paesana (Italian for village festival) is set to music by several folkloric sketches. The theme in Festa Paesana is partly based on a Dutch anthem (Wien Neerlands bloed); when other lyrics are used it is also known as the Lunteren anthem.The work begins with a festive introduction, completed by chimes and drums, in which pieces of the Lunteren anthem are heard. The music then transitions to represent a horse auction. We hear horses run their first rounds in the auction ring while being whipped. The following theme is partly based on the anthem. The tension of the traditional auction is amplified by an ever-increasing cadence, reaching its climax when the word ?Sold!? is shouted. The night ends with a majestic variation on the Lunteren anthem.The next morning, when the tower clock hits seven times, the village is awaked by the reveille of the heralds. In a fugatic version of the anthem, we can hear the village slowly come to life. This evolves with the chiming of all towers in the village; the celebration can begin. Carriages drawn by horses rumble through the village and thus, it is easy to hear when a horse hesitates or runs amuck. A traditional folk dance group then dances a whirling waltz while the audience shares their pleasure. Musicians march along the scene and take over the waltz theme in their march. Until deep in the night, the musicians are still heard playing in the streets. Meanwhile, we hear the anthem theme being played in a choral variation (in minor). The first time it is played quietly, as a preparation for Sunday. Then it is played in a celebrating way, enabling the devout village residents to remember the past pleasant celebration with satisfaction. 0:08:10

The opening radiates strength and ambition, but one is also made to wonder which direction will be chosen, which choices will have to be made.After the introduction the first steps on the path of life are taken, still somewhat unsteadily (the 3/4th time used illustrates this uncertainty). However, the child has now set off and will meet the future with an open mind, unafraid, even though experience will teach it how easily it can be hurt.Fortunately, it is sometimes allowed to be vulnerable and it discovers there will always be someone to offer shelter, support and love. Score and Parts. Musings opens with an unaccompanied oboe presenting the main theme which is a cipher o the name Paul Hindmarsh to whom this work is dedicated. Most of the ensuing music is based on this theme in one variant or another. whilst basically a set of variations, occasionally a motif will assume more importance in the following section, the main theme never being too far away. This music goes through many mood swings but finally the opening idea reveals itself agian and fades away on piccolo and glockenspiel. So Nata Per Te Wind Band Set (Score & Parts)
So Nata Per Te -- or Naci para ti in Spanish -- translates as "I was born for you". This symphonic suite is inspired by Pepe Domingo, a great music enthusiast and lover of life who wanted to commemorate his long and happy marriage to his dear wife, Concha. He commissioned Ferrar Ferran to set to music the great bond of their partnership: the couple will be able to close their eyes and relive through the music their most precious memories one by one.So Nata Per Te is a suite of many contrasts. Its contemporary, modern flavours are entertaining while the colourful variations are exciting and fascinating. Audience members may recall happy memories in their own lives listening to the delightful, famous tunes that appear throughout the work and, although somewhat different from the originals, they are easily recognisable.Ferrer Ferran dedicated this work to Pepe Domingo and his wife Concha not only for their great enthusiasm and passion for music, but also for their mutual love. So Nata Per Te was premiered on 27 February 2010 at the Auditorio Florida of Paiporta (Spain) by the Banda Primitiva de Paiporta, conducted by the composer. 24:45

In the year 1368 a rapacious character takes up residence in the castle of Rijnesteyn at Cothen. He is Johan,bastard son of the Bishop of Utrecht.Round this now so peaceful castle eventful matters are enacted. In part one Johan and Willem Gulik of Guelders set out to do battle against King Charles of France. On their return,in part two, Johan captures two French goldsmiths in Hainault and incarcerates them at Castle Rijnesteyn. Part three is a musical representation of a courtly ballet in medieval style. The final part relates how Jan van Rijnesteyn goes to war against Hendrik van Vianen and Lord of 'Goy,Viscount of Utrecht.Jan loots his possessions and threathens to conquer all. In het jaar 1368 betrekt een roofzuchtig heerschap het kasteel Reijnestein te Cothen.Het is Johan, de bastaardzoon van de Utrechtse bisschop. Rond dit nu zo vredig gelegen ridderslot hebben zich toen geruchtmakende taferelen afgespeeld. In het eerste deel trekt Johan met Willem Gullik, de hertog van Gelre, ten strijde tegen koning Karel van Frankrijk. De terugreis speelt zich af in het tweede deel. Tijdens deze reis neemt Johan in Henegouwen twee Franse goudsmeden gevangen en sluit ze op in de kerker van slot Rijnesteyn. Deel 3 is de muzikale weergave van een hoofs ballet in middeleeuwse stijl. In het laatste deel wordt verteld hoe Jan van Rijnesteyn in 1396 ten strijde trekt tegen Hendrik van Vianen en de heer van't Goy, burggraaf van Utrecht. There are people who are capable of planning well. They live their lives in a well-structured manner and know exactly what they have to do. On the other hand, there are also people who are the exact opposite: they want to do too many things at once and are often somewhat absent-minded, which occasionally results in frantic situations. The outcome of one such situation is 'They are coming'. John Emerson Blackstone had been working on a new composition for some time when he received a telephone call from his editor, who told him that the deadline was approaching rapidly, even worse, that it would expire at the end of that same day and that he would drop by in person to fetch the composition! Blackstone set to work in a frenzy and completed the last details. When his editor arrived, the piece was finished ..... and got its definitive title: 'They are coming'. 02:30
