Missa Katharina was primarily written for choir, sopranosolo and concert band but can also be performed with a choir,accompanied by an organ or piano only. Choir set available at 130224040!This Hymn of Fraternity is in fact the final movement of Serge Lancen's 'Oecumenical Poem'. This large religious composition, lasting over 80 minutes, was written for solo voices, mixed choir, children's choir, organ and symphony orchestra. It was premiered in Our Lady's Cathedral at Laon. The composer made a new orchestration for wind band of this 'Hymn of Fraternity' in 1980. The text was translated into English, Dutch and German.

Alfred Evensen (1883 - 1942) was born in Troms, but moved to Harstad 16 years old to start as a student at The Military School of Music. He was director and chief of the military band in 1918, and worked there for 12 years. In 1930 he was appointedto conductor of the military band in Bergen, and worked there until he was appointed to take over from Johannes Hanssen (Valdres march) as manager and conductor of the military band in Oslo in 1934.With this band he participated in a majorinternational military music collection in Paris in 1935 With a great success. In addition to his work in military music, he was a highly respected conductor of choir and composed, in additionto his compositions for bands, many songs for choir.He died in Oslo, after he was arrested because of his resistance against the German occupation. At his own request he was buried in Harstad, and there is also a statue of him.Norwegian Dance No. 1 and No. 2 dates from 1911 and 1912respectively. They are composed in the style of Grieg's Norwegian Dances, Op. 35, but, unlike Grieg, Evensen has used his own themes for the compositions.

"Sle Jolekveld" was arranged for Kongelige Norske Marines Musikkorps (The Royal Norwegian Navy Band) for their CD-recording "Julestemning"(2009) featuring Solveig Kringlebotn as soprano soloist and the choir of Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Ingar Bergby.The arrangement works very well for a collaborative concert for band and SATB choir and possible soprano soloist. However it will also work well also for concert band alone.

The piece is a sanguine sounding work entirely based upon variations in several keys of a main hymn. This creates a festive and 'sprituoso' atmosphere throughout this impressive, highly colourful and energetic work. Raise Your Voice In Song - Claude T. Smith
One of Claude T. Smith's last completed works, "Raise Your Voice in Song" was commissioned by the Nebraska Music Educators Association for the 50th Anniversary on NMEA! It was written for the 1986 All-State Band, Choir and Orchestra for their combined performance on November 22, 1986 in Hastings, NE. This majestic work lends itself as a finale, for band alone, or a combined performance with string orchestra and/or choir (available separately). There are two sets of lyrics (secular and Christmas).

£71.50Quail Creek Overture - David Gorham
This selection was commissioned by the Central Oklahoma Band Directors Association for the CODA Ninth Grade Honor Band. After an energetic opening, a lyrical legato section is introduced by a woodwind choir and answered by a brass choir before returning to the original excitement of the opening section. A beautiful slower section in 3/4 time follows before the opening section returns, taking the piece to a strong, bold ending.
