VIEW SCORE PDF This exciting and uplifting processional is the first movement of a festive suite, A Renaissance Christmas, written by Kevin Norbury for the Pierre Elliott Trudeau High School Wind Symphony. Based on Personent hodie (On this day earth shall ring), this is a short piece imagining a torchlight Yuletide procession (perhaps bearing the traditional roasted wild boar), using a well-known Christmas melody from the large collection of music compiled in the 16th century called Piae Cantiones (1582). The tune is presented twice with accompanying, related melodic material. Another fabulous arrangement from Adrian Taylor of popular tunes for Junior Wind Ensemble. It is not necessary to have all parts being played for these arrangements. Most will work fine with just the two Trumpet/Clarinet parts and a bass line from trombones, tubas or bassoons. With the exception of the bassoon part, all instruments have a part 1 (more advanced and with key signatures) and a part 2 (easier music, lower notes, rarely crossing the break for woodwind players, and without key signatures for treble clef instruments). A piano part is included to help fill out the harmonies for smaller groups.

Harrie Janssen composed Analecta Varia in memory of Henk van Lijnschooten (1928-2006). He has been of great influence on the Dutch music for wind instruments. As a conductor and as a member of the jury, but above all as a prominent composer. Consists of eight sound studies that can also be performed separately. In each part a particular orchestral aspect is the central point. The eight parts 1. Choral: ensemble in monophonic texture. 2. Air: relatively free line patterns combined with a constant pulse. 3. Pavana: constant rhythmicity culminating in an orchestral tutti. 4. Lullaby: dissonant harmony above an organ point in a filigree instrumentation. 5. Chaconne: color and virtuosity combined with a rigid pasacaglian theme. 6. Interlude: antithesis woodwind/brass and followed by a synthesis of the before. 7. Fugue: ensemble in a polyphonic texture. 8. Epilogue: final canto in a preponderating strong dynamic, where a constant euphony has to be pursued. 22:00
