Score and Parts. Vizcaya, in common with some other of Vinter's 'lighter' pieces started life as an orchestral work. Always interested in national music of other countries Gilbert wrote an atmospheric piece Fete Basque describing a festival in the Basque region of South-West France. This intoxicatingly optimistic piece, full of Mediterranean sunshine, has been arranged for wind band by Kevin G. Lamb. £49.95Cav Party (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Wiffin, Rob
Cav Party was commissioned by The Band of the Household Cavalry in 2020. The idea was to showcase the various musical elements of the band in a party piece that gets more boisterous as it goes on. It utilises three Eighteenth century melodies associated with the band, starting off with a folkish setting of Handel's March from Scipio for harp, violin, flute and cor anglais (all fully cued on regular wind band instruments) and then into Keel Row where the accordion is featured before the whole band enters, and finally to Money Musk. Both Keel Row and Money Musk are played as Trot Marches by the band.The regimental slow march Scipio comes from Handel's opera of 1725 The Mercy of Scipio, which was based on the life of the Roman General Scipio Africanus.Keel Row is a traditional folk song evoking the life and work of the keelmen of Newcastle upon Tyne. It was first published in 1770, although it could be considerably older. The opening lines of the song describe Sandgate, the part of the quayside overlooking the River Tyne to the east of the city centre where the keelmen lived.Money Musk, also known as Monymusk or Monnymusk was originally a pipe tune composed by Scottish fiddler Daniel (sometimes Donald) Dow (1732 - 1783) in 1776. It takes its name from a baronial estate in Aberdeenshire, Scotland called Monymusk House. The tune first appeared in Dow's Thirty Seven New Reels, c. 1780 under the title Sir Archibald Grant of Monemusk's Reel.Duration: 3.45

James Rae is the man who put fun into woodwind and brass teaching. His many compositions, especially in the jazz and blues idioms, have often featured on examination syllabuses. Recent years have seen his publications of easy flexible ensembles for younger players and now he turns his attention to the wind band. In this series "The Concert Band Collection", he has written exciting new pieces for the standard concert band line up. Attention is given to each instrument so that the technical and musical requirements do not exceed UK Grade 2.5. An optional piano part will provide "stuffing" and moral support for the young players who will quickly enjoy James' catchy and imaginative music. Each volume contains two titles. This one includes the haunting and nostalgic waltz "Secret Fairground" and a dynamic masterpiece called "Blue Strut".

Rutter composed the piece, in six movements, for a concert at which Bach's fifth Brandenburg concerto was to be performed, and so decided to write the piece for the same ensemble. This arrangement for Concert/Wind Band and Solo Flute adheres to the original presentation, but is expanded for a full band accompaniment to the solo flute. The harpsichord is optional, being cued elsewhere, but may be performed as in the original score by either harpsichord or an electronic keyboard with a similar setting. A jazz drumset is optionally included in the fourth (jazz waltz) movement, and other percussion discretely added in other movements. It is exciting to hear earlier musical forms brought into today's music appreciation, and this setting of a flute solo with band is especially refreshing for both soloist and band.

£75.00Ding Dong! Merrily on High (Concert Band with Optional Choir - Score and Parts) - Noble & Willcocks
Ring in the holidays with this famous Christmas carol, Ding Dong! Merrily on High. The tune first appeared as a French dance in the 1500's. The lyrics were written by George Ratcliffe Woodward and published in 1924 in The Cambridge Carol-Book. More recently, Sir David Willcocks made an arrangement for the second book of Carols for Choirs, on which this arrangement for Concert/Wind Band is based. His original arrangement was in the key of B major, which has been modified to B-flat major to better accommodate the instruments of the band. This represents one of the Series of Band Arrangements compatible with David Willcocks' Carols for Choirs.
