The Spanish bandleader Xavier Cugat (Gerona, 1900 - Barcelona, 1990) spent his youth in Cuba before starting a successful career as bandleader in the USA. He created his first dance band in 1928 and five years later he was conductor of the Astoria Hotel Orchestra in New-York. He became world-famous with his interpretations of Latin-American dancemusic. Marcel Peeters wrote a fine arrangement of some of Cugat's greatest hits One Mint Julep, Zombie und Rum and Coca Cola. A sparkling, sensual exotic musical cocktail!

One of the members of The Salvation Army's 1960s phenomenon "The Joystrings," Joy Webb has a string of popular songs to her name, several of which contributed to the charts successes of enjoyed by the group. In more recent years, many of her tunes have found their why into instrumental repertoire.A prime example of Joy's remarkable gifting is her beautiful Share My Yoke. Although the deeply spiritual words of Share My Yoke may be unfamiliar to some, the sheer beauty of the melody is without doubt. The Pageant of London - Frank Bridge
Frank Bridge was one of the finest English composers of the first half of the 20th century. The Pageant of London is his only work for wind band, comprising of two marches, one scored from Bridge's best known organ piece and including the chimes of Big Ben, plus three short renaissance pastiche items, one arranged from Playford (later used by Peter Warlock in Capriol Suite). The music is tuneful, approachable and, in the words of wind band 'legend' Timothy Reynish makes a fine alternative to Holst's two suites, which were composed around the same time. Reynish has introduced this work to concert bands right across the world. It has been performed in USA and the Far East, recorded by the celebrated Kosei Wind Orchestra of Japan and also by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales in the Chandos edition of Bridge Orchestral Music.
