Tiny Little Bug (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Offerdal, Hans
This is a day in the life of a tiny little bug. It is under attack and on the run. Will it survive? There are great challenges in the use of accelerando, ritardando and dynamics. Dissonances are present several places, but the voice leading is diatonic and the whole piece is based on one single scale: Bb melodic minor. It is notated as a concert Bb major scale with one accidental (third scale step lowered). Feel free to use it during warm-ups! Duration: 5.30

Good King Wenceslas (Concert Band with Optional Choir - Score and Parts) - Noble & Willcocks
Good King Wenceslas is a Christmas carol that tells a story of a Bohemian king going on a journey and braving harsh winter weather to give alms to a poor peasant on the Feast of Stephen (December 26, the Second Day of Christmas). During the journey, his page is about to give up the struggle against the cold weather, but is enabled to continue by following the king's footprints, step for step, through the deep snow. The legend is based on the life of the historical Saint Wenceslaus I, Duke of Bohemia or Svat Vclav in Czech (907-935). The name Wenceslas is a Latinised version of the old Czech language Venceslav. In 1853, English hymnwriter John Mason Neale wrote the Wenceslas lyrics, in collaboration with his music editor Thomas Helmore, and the carol first appeared in Carols for Christmas-Tide, 1853. Neale's lyrics were set to the melody of a 13th-century spring carol Tempus adest floridum (The time is near for flowering) first published in the 1582 Finnish song collection Piae Cantiones. This arrangement represents one in the Series of Band Arrangements compatible with David Willcocks' Carols for Choirs.

Up From Earth's Center
This brilliant programmatic work from the pen of Rob Romeyn is an incredible display of beauty, sensitivity, emotion and vigorous intensity. The journey begins on the morning of the great 1868 Hawaii earthquake. Peaceful and beautiful sounds of the black sand beach of Punalu'u are heard as the sun rises. The music then develops, first with a statement of the traditional melody "The Earth Is Our Mother" to remind us to respect Mother Earth and be mindful of her incredible powers. As the tempo quickens we are musically transported into the events of the fateful day, as the earthquake and resulting Tsunami ensued. As the movement of the earth subsides, we return to the beach of Punalu'u as Mother Earth begins her renewal of new life. Certain to become a classic for concert and festival use, this is music of highest quality!

Plymouth Trilogy - Anthony Iannaccone
In three movements (each tending more towards light rather than ponderous), this is an immensely accessible work that would be appropriate for bands of moderately advanced skills. From a 6/8 march-feel opening, to a reflective middle movement that ends as a pianissimo chorale, to a lively ending rag, this is a great work. Transparent scoring allows players to shine in small groupings and the surrounding ensemble passages sparkle with life and energy.
