Its been known by several different titles, including Oh, Shenandoah and Across the Wide Missouri. Clearly a part of American tradition, it remains one of Americas most enduring and popular folk songs. All the hustle and bustle you'd expect are vividly showcased by the percussion section. This fun adaption of "Jolly Old St. Nicholas" is given a special twist by using numerous sound effects (anvil, woodblock, duck call, vibra-slap, train whistle, triangle, ratchet, siren/whistle, and bells) to represent the assembling of toys in Santa's toy shop. A really fun selection for that holiday concert, featuring the percussion section with a lot of different sounds from Santa's toys. Good performances demonstrate good dynamic contrasts.
